Hotel in Chang Rai

It has been more than 5 years since I was in CR but used to visit quite a lot from 2007 to 2016.

At least three or four times I stayed at the Wiang Inn Hotel (not to be confused with the nearby Wangcome Hotel which is/was also fairly decent) very close to the Night Bazaar and bus station. Great location.

I don't recall what I used to pay but you can certainly find a lot cheaper than this hotel. I quite like a bit of comfort so don't mind paying a bit more. The breakfasts were great. Naturally I cannot speak as to whether the hotel is operating normally, or at all, but here is a link to the website.

It is a great little city. If you are there on a Saturday evening go to the Walking Street market which is a bit more relaxed than the one in Chiang Mai.

Ramming Lodge - can't go wrong.

In the upscale Nimman area - Sanae Hotel. Near Maya Mall and many other superb shopping choices. Fabulous area, and a lovely hotel. Great rooms, great price, great service, quiet.

I agree that is a good hotel, but at about 190km away from where the OP wants to be it could be a little further away than he is comfortable with. 🚌

I was only there one night in 2010 after missing the last bus to CM after the Mae Sai visa run- don’t miss those days. On the main road, the purple place above Sperm disco had rooms for 400 baht, and pretty clean. Even called me a masseuse from down the Soi, and I slept like a baby….

Edit: Not purple anymore, and probably more like 650 THB, breakfast inc.

I’ve stayed at Ramming lodge but as mentioned is a bit of a hike….

Are hotels guest friendly in CR?

Be very shocked if any hotels in CR had issues with bringing a lady back to the room…..

Then again, with all the lost revenue from COVID, it could lead to being creative in squeezing extra baht from the farang……and a joiner fee is not so crazy
