Toy Boy
I've got around 3,000 of them, some that I bought in the shops in TukCom way back when, but most of them I downloaded and burnt myself. In those days, I was renting a condo and it had a decent 28 inch CRT TV but no way of playing media off a USB stick and no space to buy a modern TV myself, It was only when I bought the house in 2011 that I finally got my own Samsung smart TV and could play movies and TV shows without the need for a DVD. They all have English subtitles but only the ones from TukCom might have Thai subs. So what can I do with all these old DVD's that are cluttering up my spare bedroom? I can't imagine anyone would want to buy them to watch in this day and age, when 2160p is the plat du jour, not 480p, is there somewhere I could donate them to maybe, like the City library or an orphanage (have to dig out the sexy and violent stuff first, though - wait a minute, that's most of it!!!)? Maybe the street vendors with samlors would be interested in a few to act as reflectors on their sidecars, lol? Can I at least recycle them, I asked the GF and she looked very doubtful. Any other ideas?

Butch
I gave a load away to some Filipino sailors a while back, as they didn't have very good internet access on their vessel, but things might have changed by now. I've kept a handful of HD and Blu ray stuff in case there's a week long internet outage, plus shipped about 20 to the Philippines, but the pirated stuff, even the porn has all gone into landfill, well apart from one "Papa load's blowjob babes #3" is an iconic example of the genre and won't be going anywhere.

It must be my closeted lifestyle, but I don't seem to know many Filipino sailors, lol. Bahtless Russians who can't use the ATM machines might appreciate them, I suppose, but I don't know many of them, either. Jambo
I can recall that my 45 collection of Cliff Richards and the Every Bros singles made excellent targets for my newly acquired BSA air rifle after the pigeons all f***d off next doors roof. Their cat did a runner too! 1

Nightcrawler
Laborious though it was, I saved all the DVD films that I didn't want to part on a 2 terabite portable hard drive and then boxed them up and gave them to a charity shop. I also have about 500 music CDs but not got around to doing the same with all of them.. They are currently sitting in boxes in the attic. I use a USB stick in the car, and play all music at home from my PC and from a hard drive via Bluetooth. I downloaded 90% of my Vinyl albums and no longer use a turntable. What does one do with cassettes these days. They must be pretty worthless. I took a few bags full of then to the Council dump several years ago. I can't see the being worth much even for collectors in a hundred years time.

Also, the stuff available online is very often more mainstream, so if say you wanted a track by an obscure band and managed to find it on Youtube, as the chances are it wouldn't be on any of the services out there, you'd have to rip it to mp3 from YT and then burn it. The YT version may not be the same as the CD one. Keep hold of them mate, I've some rare and eclectic stuff on CD which I'm keeping hold of. Same same for some cassettes.
coxyhog
I have about 400 CD's and a lot of music DVD's. I'm hoping to bring them to Thailand if ever we get to go & live there. Can you still buy DVD & CD players? Edit:I just bought a new DVD so I guess you must still be able to buy the players. That made me laugh, I hadn’t bought any DVD since some 30 baht copies on Soi 8 my last trip in 2012. Then I remembered in 2015 I needed an emergency “go-to” just in case, forgot the movie name but the main star was Anissa Kate from France. It’s since gone in the bin I don’t think DVD’s are a horrible thing to keep if you have a player already, even though they are basically obsolete. Now VHS on the other hand……
