WHICH VPN do you use here in thailand?

I use the free Hoxx VPN app that you can add to Chrome - usually works.  Seems those that work good all the time all want a yearly contract. Dont know of one that will do month-month.

But you gotta completely clear out all your internet cache and stored information first and restart the PC.  I use CCleaner and then run Malwarebytes Adwarecleaner and run the 'basic repair' (as per below).

Nord vpn.  Buy the multi year package and its under $3/mo.  No logs, in Panama so outside the reach of the US, EU, etc.  Servers all over the world.

Yep, Nord is terrific. I bought the 3 year package 2 years 11 months ago for $129.06. Just had reminder for auto-renewal, checked it out and they were quoting 7.29 euros per month for a 12 month agreement . . . Mmmmmmm

So went deeper into my account and an offer popped up, $99 to cover for 30 months, so grabbed that.

Never had to use a VPN here in Thailand for anything Downloading torrents or IPTV never been an issue

I've encountered a few sites back in the US that block me due to my IP address being in Thailand. The oddest one was Home Depot. Found that out when I wanted to order a couple of items for pickup that my tenant could use to make some simple repairs. It was pointless for them to block access as it was easy enough to turn on ZenMate to make the order. Sent them an email about the issue and the easy workaround, but not surprised I never heard back.

When I need a VPN. i use Opera browser as it has a FREE built in VPN which can be set to either Americas, Europe, or Asia. Works every time and I rate it as " EXCELLENT ".  Very easy to set up and user friendly. My mate told me he uses Opera VPN to view porn sites so I guess I have to give it a try.

I use Surfshark, it is very reliable and as cheap as chips. It does allow access to BBCs iplayer, but can't stand the programs they have started showing so have stopped watching it. I got the 3 year subscription which they don't seem to do now but the 2 year is about $64.

I use Nord.  It has high-speed servers in 60 countries and extra safeguard options like Double VPN; Onion over VPN and P2P, which make your computer untraceable to the most determined hackers and even NSA.  That level of security is overkill for ordinary surfing or to remove geo-blocks, but is useful when transferring money from a bank account or if traveling in a country like China.

That was easy and it worked , they also offered me another discount as I signed in for the first time to extend to 36 months .. think it was €1.80 per month ... but it was a one time only offer and I wanted to see what it was like ... there is also a 30 day money back guarantee... so I should have taken it ..

Cancelled Surfshark and no problems got a full refund

now have Nord VPN and tested it in France , no issues using Sky Go , iPlayer or Paddy Power  .. so will be keeping

I've been using Nord for about 5 years although not in Thailand. It does all that I want, especially when it comes to bypassing "region checks".

But a few points.

My original subscription was for 2 years but from time to time Nord comes out with promotions. I was a bit dubious at first but if you sign up for one of the promotions it just gets added on at the end of your current subscription period. Grab a promotion if you're happy with the service and are going to keep it.

From time to time there are software updates. After clicking on "Update" nothing happens some times for several minutes. I guess it's downloading the new software and preparing the update. In the past I have canned the process because nothing was happening. It just takes time, be patient and then it will kick off with a normal update progress bar etc.

During my subscription, one time I changes my ISP and thus my email address which was also my Nord logon ID. It is a multi-step process with Nord to verify you are who you say you are and get the changes made. I guess me and Nord support were in different timezones because each step took about 24 hours. I got what I wanted, it just took 3 days.
