The United States When looking at a world map, it's hard to determine which country is larger, Australia or the United States. So, we've layered them in order to gain a better perspective. The United States is around 9,833,517 sq km, while the land down under is 7,741,220 sq km. In mathematical terms, America is about 1.3 times as large as Australia, or 27 percent.
