Australia Vs. The United States

When looking at a world map, it's hard to determine which country is larger, Australia or the United States. So, we've layered them in order to gain a better perspective.

The United States is around 9,833,517 sq km, while the land down under is 7,741,220 sq km. In mathematical terms, America is about 1.3 times as large as Australia, or 27 percent. Considering the United States has a population of 328.2 million, it's a good thing there is so much space!

I made a quick trip to Lake Tahoe, California yesterday --- to pick up my Cuz' -- helping him escape imminent thick wildfire smoke. Story:

The geology of Western Australia spans 4.4 billion years of Earth's history — from the oldest dated zircon mineral grains at Jack Hills and ancient 3730 million-year-old Archean gneiss in the Narryer Terrane, to recent sediments forming right now on the Swan Coastal Plain around Perth.

I find it interesting that Myanmar, between India and Thailand and a former British colony, drives on the right-side.

"Myanmar (formerly Burma) was a British colony until 1948, and drove on the left until 1970, when it changed sides. It is said that the ruler of the country at that time, dictator General Ne Win, ordered everyone to start driving on the right side of the road. However, virtually every vehicle is right-hand-drive, since there are still many old cars and buses driving around and almost all the modern cars are second-hand imports from Japan. You can still even see old traffic lights in downtown Rangoon on the wrong side of the road."
