Staying in Ao Nang in August and thinking of going there for a stay ….by ferry maybe? I spent three dry seasons there (Nov-April) back in 2006-09. Rented a bungalow on a hill with a sea view. Also visited in the wet season (May-Oct) during those years. Very pleasant during the dry season. Many places to stay and eat. Last time there was in February 2015. It was a lot more developed in '15 than '09. I'm sure it's even more developed now. The weather and tides can be fickle during the wet season. Much of the tourism infrastructure shuts down. Just not many folks that time of year. Yet, it's a beautiful place with many fine beaches. Old Lanta town is well preserved, albeit small. You should be able to find an open resort on a pristine beach with a restaurant. August could be stormy though, as it is the start of monsoon season in the south. . . . A few photos of Koh Lanta... Sangsom
Yeah I had a few days there maybe 4 or 5 years ago. Fairly quiet and a place to go to stick your feet up and chill out. I stayed right on the beach in this nice place, was lovely beach right out the front door and sea 20 metered away probably. That area is quiet and low key a few of the hotels have small beach style bars to wander and have a few beers and get some food. https://www.booking.com/hotel/th/baan-rim-lay.en-gb.html Check what the crack is in august though because there are a few months when the weather isn’t great and a lot of stuff shuts down. 1
