From Fabulous 103 news:

Police reports from sattahip, indicate that at least 14 people have died in an inferno caused by inflammable foam use din the construction of a feature pub and nightclub on the sukhumvit road.   this morning, Friday, at 1 in the morning a fire broke out at the venue as it served to over 100 customers.  20 fire engines attended the scene yet it took over 2 hours to douse the huge flames and flare ups in the single storey building DUE, according to local media,  to so called sound proofing foam sprayed onto walls and ceilings, this despite a history of clubs in Pattaya, Bangkok and elsewhere where people also died in the past and a ban issued on the use of these materials in nighttime venues.

the scene  was appalling, with patrons lying on grass areas covered in burns and medics who rushed to the scene from queen sirikit hospital and emergency services desperately working to save those injured.  those dead were discovered in the restrooms, service areas and even at the main entrance. the venue had a SINGLE entrance only with no fire escapes visible.  witnesses report electrical sparks at the dj booth in cables that ran along the foam covered walls, quickly turning to flames and toxic gasses which choked many as they fled to leave, phone video clips shw the dense black smoke from the foam burning pumping from the building before flames of up to 5m in height engulfed the whole building and explosions can be heard, all before emergency services arrived Police believe that all patrons fled at the same time, in fear, causing a pile up of injured at the only doorway.  Owners and operators are expected to be held and questioned today as families of those killed gathered at the newly opened pub venue early this morning

repercussions will be enormous,  a) cos there will be army peole in there, its close to the main base area and b) cos most clubs on WS over the seaside have no fuckin fire escapes either.  the video film show black dense smke pouring out of the main entrance and peope climbing over other but with lost sense of direction, then a massive flare up.. really awful morning here

Truly awful. I have seen video footage from a few different media sources and they were horrific.. Very sad for those killed or injured and hope on a full inquiry, but that will not bring those who died back to the life or remove the trauma and burns left with those who survived.  The victims were all young and just having a good night out. If the fire exit was blocked by sound proofing material then this is surely a criminal investigation. RIP to those who lost their lives.

Famous Thai lawyer prepares to complain with DSI to treat Mountain B fire as special case, investigate rumored silent investors and owners
...
Furthermore, the lawyer raised three intriguing points:

1. The venue owner, or “Sai B,” who was recently released on bail yesterday, may have bribed the police officers in the area to turn a blind eye to him because he allegedly operated without a proper license, allowed minors access, and violated the legal closing hours.

2. The lawyer said any venue that disregarded multiple laws at the same time usually had a secret partnership with high-ranking soldiers, politicians, or police officers; thus, he did not believe that Sia B, who was only 27 years old, would be influential enough to run the whole venue on his own.

3. Ronnarong lastly questioned why the officers in charge of this case seemed hurried to wrap up the investigation despite the fact that this tragedy involved many casualties.

The lawyer demanded that the DSI must investigate this matter thoroughly because he believed that there must be other parties involved.

They should have a way out in the back to get into the water in case of need, relatively safe in case of a fire.

What they should have and what they have got are two different things.

When I lived in Pattaya between 2003 and 2013 I did visit Lucifer on occasions with my wife. There was a chain over the door nearest the beach, I always sat near the Walking Street entrance.
