Ex-wife is from a few miles up the road from there! My first trip I thought 90% of all Pattaya female staff was from there. I remember after a ST on Soi 6 with a farm fresh one with nom yai,I decided to keep her for the next 18 hours or so. The next morning, as we’re walking past a taxi stand, one of the drivers smiles and yells “ KORAT!” She was wearing a green tracksuit jacket, don’t know if it was footie team colours or what…..Funny thing is I didn’t make the connection, and her English was non-existent, but she made me understand the joke….. The bedroom stuff was not very exciting, but I was a newbie & just couldn’t let go of those funbags Come to think of it, these 3 from Simon complex were all from Korat too…..maybe that’s why they got along so well. I love Thai community spirit! Edited November 9, 2022 by Golfingboy 6 1 3

When they say ''they come from Korat'' most actually mean they come from the surrounding villages circa 100kms away lol 2 1 1

I guess they are but like you say nowhere near the city. Out in the villages. 1

Go forth and Google if you think that isn't so! 😃

If a 20 letter name is reduced to a short nickname, why not for both city & province? Anyway, let’s just appreciate Larry’s photography and admit whatever the name means……..90% of BM have shared a bed with a lady from there And the other 10% are liars

I have a big house there and when you go anywhere for local government stuff its Nakhon Ractchasima immigration, Tax, Revenue etc. Plus the clincher... I know you're not a football fan but big local team are Nakhon Ratchasima Tigers. Big rival to Buriram and decent team. Korat is the city and the girls always say Korat when asked. Basically the name of the local city as said most live way outside massive province.

forcebwithu
Something that I hadn't thought about before, but all provinces are named by their original main city. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Provinces_of_Thailand#Governance "The provinces are named by their original main city, which is not necessarily still the most populous city within the province today. Also, in several provinces the administration has been moved into a new building outside the city."

She referred to it in conversation as "my country." She was a bit of a scoundrel, but we had fun. Here she is on the beach at Koh Phi Phi.
