I think I have a photo of a buffalo being sacrificed in Belize during my jungle training also in 1975 .. It was critical that it was done quickly in one stab, cut and slice movement and all the blood caught in a bucket which was immediately passed around for drinking...

Sorry to ruin your lunch ... and your thread !!!

After buying 2 train tickets for tomorrow s trip to ban krut, bought some breaky headed back to apartment to hang up clothes

Didn't know what to do today, didn't need anymore sunburn for sure, and I didn't really want to be one of those thant hang around in shopping malls, drinking coffee checking social media ,so drove down to market village, got a coffee and checked social media 😅

One off ,purchased a pair of head shorts for 150bht aswell so not a total waste of mall experience.

After that fs headed to blueport to do the same, got a surprise tho as right next to immigration they have built a food court,so got another coffee caramel mochitaie and brownie, sat down and people watched at the busy immigration,I applied for extension last Dec but came in early before doors open, always best to do that here to beat the queue s.

Time for a drive around.

I stayed at the Nissi beach hotel in 1980, wow what a place.

I was there with about 20 staff from British Airways Terminal two on a football trip. We were meant to play two games against Cyprus Airways staff but it never happened as we just went on a bender. It was a freebie as the Cyprus Airways rep (one of our party) gave us free tickets, she was also a bit of a babe.

Two things I remember, first one was the number of Swedish girls on the beach who were topless, it was just raining Swedish babes and a few of us guys (I was 25) just had a blast, much to the annoyance of a few of our female groupies from BA. If I remember there was a bit of a sand spit we always walked on, the view was just amazing with blondes everywhere, it was like a candy shop for us guys.

The second and main thing I remember is trying to learn to ride a motorbike for the first time. I was introduced to the bike, getting on it in a location on one of the small lanes into the main square in Ayia Napa. The square was packed with people, all at tables having their early dinners, drinks etc., when I decided to try my hand at driving a motorbike for the first time. I was probably told where the throttle was but, yes, I grabbed it and twisted it and the bike took off. I couldn't release my hand or pull on the brake (just a finger or two away) and off I sped heading straight into the square, unable to stop. The poor people at the restaurant saw me coming and scattered, I must have taken out at least 2 tables, people scrambling away, food flying, drinks, crockery and furniture in the air. It must have been an amazing scene but being in the middle of it, I just wanted out sharpish.

It happened so quickly but not as quick as my mate retrieving the bike, me picking myself up and running up another lane out of the place. No idea what was left behind but we scarpered like rats up a drainpipe.

From then on I became the designated driver of one of the three Mini-Mokes we hired and the bikes were reserved for a few more seasoned bike riders.

What a trip that was. What a place, what a memory.

Will try to get a few pics put up.

I wonder if they were Swedish UN soldiers, or perhaps they had left by then?

The girls that were in my room on a few nights were tourists for sure. Even visited one in Sweden a few weeks later.

Looks like Blue Port is filling up the spaces again. Great place (especially for the cinema) but after Covid, it was very sparse of people. In contrast, when I was there last August, whilst Blue Port was lacking in people, Market Village was buzzing.

Did you choose a favourite?

I'd go for the 2 seater soft top merc even if it is almost a Morris Marina brown !!

The white merc, last time i was there last year another car was at the back, its an empty space now,but cant remember what kinda car it was.

Thanks for the Pics, I had no idea there was an immigration office in Blueport.

Is that fairly new?

It's been around 3 years since I was last in Blueport.

Its been in ground lvl as far as i can remember goin back 5 years,it used to be at the front next door to the banks,if you came down the esculator from lvl 1 and didnt look behind you ,you would not know it was there, bigger premises now tho, last time i went to do extension i only took my passport that was it,no forms, photos, just a signature, was so easy, and off course the important part... 1900 bht.

Arranged bolt pick up,from top of soi 94 to station 68bht,gave her 80,as usual train is running late 29 min,so head to coffee shop and a ross to 7,11,finally on train to ban krut and not a spare seat to be had.

The ticket price includes a meal, rice, pck of chicken pieces and a sauce to mix in,but we're keeping this for the beach dogs.

We used the resorts free bicycles and made our way to one of the restaurant s on beach Rd,about 7 or 8 to chose from, seafood green curry, shrimp red curry pasternak, morning glory, fried rice chicken, fried rice pork, bill came to about 640bht,good value, plenty of squid fish and big shrimp in the dishes.

Had rain last night, tho I never heard it,thankfully cloudy today so will hire scooter and go to the magnificent temple on the hill.

American breakfast this morning, with cereals, toast, fruit and strong coffees.

Immigration area must be the busiest part of Blue Port. Sat there myself last August with a friend needing assistance with a visa extension. When I was there there were only 2 or 3 others sitting down or in the office, bit busier in your photos.
