Your likely correct Tesit, but quicker is not always better mate. 

The journey is often better than the destination......

In this case you're correct the journey was better than the destination if you're not planning on crossing the border and staying in Thailand the little town at the border is kind of a jerk Water Place at about 9:00 everything seems to close up and other than the big Market there there's really nothing going on but the three days I was there it took me that long to see the two markets completely.
