Looking to head out to Koh Larn for a couple of nights next week.  I've been before but only on a day trip where someone else organised everything and I just tagged along, so asking here for any recommendations for places to stay, which resort(s) to visit etc.  Local restaurants with plenty of beer a night time priority and a decent beach restaurant for daytime.

I see from this sight there are two ferry destinations, or speed boats which I think would take us to any of the other beaches.  Also open to hiring a motorbike there if required.

Advice and pointers appreciated.

Great info, thanks mate.

Just wondering what sort of hotel facilities available if staying over night or a couple of nights. I guess booking well in advance would be prudent ?

A new Service started yesterday.

Looks really nice tbh, often id do trips to ko larn in the past for me the 30bht boat is the better experience, sitting with your legs dangling over the side of the boat, moving about freely, the ocean breeze, spray from the ocean ect ect,i did the speedboat once but preferred the relaxing pace of the slow boat.

The only time I took one (actually from koh samet, not koh larn) I refused to sit down... I had to kneel on the seat holding on to the seat infront... and I'm used to powerboating... its how I knackered my spine in the first place!

All the other occupants (chinese) were being bounced all over the place...

I have done both. I prefer the speedboat because I can leave and return when I want, not have to conform to a fixed timetable.

The one time I took one, I also stood between the seats and holding on to an overhead bar. The crew wasn't happy but I told them I already had spine problems and this way I avoided them getting worse.

When I did all of the trips around Phuket during covid, I Had to stand as the huge speed boat hit warp 9 between islands.

All of those sitting were not happy at all..

My advice would be don't even think about hiring a "scooter" even if you are an experienced rider.

I remember one of the customers staying in Secrets asking me if he would be able to hire a scooter when he visited Kho Larn. My advice to him was be safe and forget about hiring one.

Two days later I saw him in Reception with a nice selection of cuts, bruises and bandages. Apparently, he went into a corner that turned out to be covered in sand and he lost the front end of the bike.

It's just not worth the risk.
