My missus, who's an absolute star, went straight out and got these. Expensive enough at this time of year, but with the current cost ot living, f**k knows how much.

Yea, I have been looking at those very capsules on Amazon.

I don’t really post here anymore, what’s the point???? From walking walking 5 miles a day to an invalid depending on his 76 year old Mom for everything, seemingly overnight.

Take care of your health guys, at the same time it’s a crapshoot. Don’t know if God was punishing me for how I lived my life the past 15 years, but to develop anxiety, POTS, LONG COVID……whatever, basically when I was my lowest weight in 15 years & my financial stuff was getting in order. Lifetime non smoker too….it’s hard to accept, and cannot go on much longer TBH

Only doctor who helped at all never answers, and her 3rd year resident put me on a Beta Blocker-Metoprolol- which even at lowest dose, has started working TOO WELL IMO. Chest/lungs hurt all the time, insomnia every night, sluggish all day, bored……it’s pure hell! But when I spent 3 days in psych ward all my tests were deemed “normal”, same as my ECHO and all ECGs

Don’t get it twisted….the wealthy are healthier, if I had unlimited resources & saw all specialists ASAP, proper expensive scans done, etc…..I’d be in better shape, no doubt. But when it’s winter, you can’t get moving, and nobody answers, voicemail, 15 hour emergency wait times……they’re killing the average man

Would love to know if it’s a vitamin deficiency but I can’t even move out of the house for a test, and some of those don’t even capture correct blood levels. So frustrating to be seemingly healthy and then so messed up right after. Not blaming the vaccine as it’s been 17 months since my last dose

But what else could it be besides LONG COVID? Strange that it struck 5 months after my initial infection. Anyway good luck guys, enjoy your lives, get some sunshine and some pretty ladies……I wish you all well!
Last BP test at mall before I cut down on my walks for winter….I miss those days of freedom

And who would have thought the fatter guy was in better shape ? 100 pounds lost but I’m not “healthy”, no way

You are depressed, or to put in a way that oversimplifies it but looks less like a diagnosis - unhappy.

Whether that has anything to do with the underlying cause of your physical deterioration i have no training and don't claim to have any knowledge, but your second photo has a great smile that is now missing.

Any support groups in your area where you can meet people and talk. Any given up hobbies you can restart? Vitamin D is important during the winter, but more than that good company makes us all feel better.

Seeing as all the posts on these subjects seem to get spread around various threads, I thought I’d start one where we can keep them all together in one thread.

Anyway, picked up my medication this morning. This is what I’m on, 5mg a day to start with.

BP was 158/109 this morning and will take it again this evening. Need to do this twice a day for the doctor to see.

Also did 8415 steps or 4.15 miles while out earlier.

Great idea Gal...

I haven't read through all of these posts yet, but I will in time.

The 5 mg. Amlo. that you are on is what I started with. I'm now on 10 mg. of that and 20 mg. of Benzepril per day.

Just goes to show you have to stay on top of it and adjust as time goes on.

As you exercise more you can cut them down or get off completely... I have done that before and working my way back toward no meds again. Not an easy task. But... without any doubt good exercise is the key.

I'm pretty lucky ... almost 55 , overweight but not on any meds at all

I had a medical last year which did all the normal tests

I've also lost 2 stone from my peak last year

I've been away for a month and apart from a bit of walking when in Bangkok for a few days , I've not done any real exercise... I weighed myself today and have lost 3lbs

I had my BP checked by a GP about 4 years ago & it was high so I had it checked again by a nurse, still high.

So they gave me a BP monitor to wear for 24hrs and it was fine.

After that I bought a monitor.

Which reminds me I must get my monitor out & start checking it regularly.

I'm a bit heavier now.

Yes, that's as maybe, but you wear Birkenstocks, much worse than any of the ailments mentioned above!

My BP has always been around 115/70. Only a couple of times has it gone above 180/100, and both were due to panic attacks while in hospital.

I take Bisoprolol and Atorvastatin now, since my heart op, and helps maintain my decent blood pressure.

Standard meds after a heart attack, I'm on the same.

Just to confirm for info only:

I didn't have a heart attack. I had severe stenosis of the heart valve which I had replaced by open heart surgery. I had a bicuspid valve as opposed to the normal tricuspid valve. This meant that the valve flaps were working much harder to allow blood flow out of the heart with no return. Surgeon suggested two flaps of the tricuspid valve had fused at birth.

At a younger age it isn't really a problem but my symptoms, at the age of 63, were fainting attacks when jogging or when using medium exertion. The main issue was severe stenosis (severe narrowing and difficulty in valve opening), my prognosis was imminent death or death within 12 months.

I take Bisoprolol to maintain my heart rhythm mainly.

I am sorry you had a heart attack and it is just a reminder that we all need to lead heathier lives.

Sorry about your gout attack. This will not help now and don't take during active gout; it will make it worse. When you're back to normal, take one 300 MG of Allopurinol tablet daily and you will never suffer from gout as long as you continue taking the Allopurinol. It's available in LOS.

Got them prescribed today, blood test came back confirming what I already knew.

Doctor said start slow, 100mg a day, a couple of reasons, Incase it exasperates the current attack which is still the odd twinge when doing a good walk, gym Saturday will tell a tale. And also to test in a month or so the level while on 100, as don't want to be taking more of any medication than I need. And I absolutely agree with him.

Been debating when to start them. Gonna do it probably Monday, when the current attack should be well away.

Great! It's best to wait until you're completely sure the gout is gone. A side note: losing weight elevates uric acid and could bring on a gout attack.

I used to get severe gout attacks - and not just in my toe, I've had them in the ball of my foot and my knee, which was by far the worst; about 12 years ago my then-doctor put me on this same medication and I still take one 100mg pill every day in the morning and have not suffered a gout attack since. This stuff is available in any pharmacy in Thailand over the counter and it's cheap too - I think a strip of 10 pills is only 30b. Because I lack a family doctor at home to write me prescriptions, I bought a box of 50 strips from a pharmacy in Jomtien for 900b, which works out to 18b a strip.

Bear in mind that allopurinol is for the prevention of gout - it won't help you if you are already suffering an attack; in that case get some Piroxicam, also available over the counter here - I don't know if it works for everyone but it worked wonders for me when I used to need it.

I think it's just more rapid weight loss.

That wouldn't be me, I use the gym as it helps me more mentally, though of course physically as well. After my upcoming trip to Thailand, I'll probably lose a pound a week for a couple of months, nothing too extreme 😅

Yea, Piroxicam I found to be the best, Pox is the local Thai version I used.  I just can't take them now as they interact with Apixaban which I now have to take for blood clots. I now use colchicine. So that's another reason for the Allopurinol, stop it actually happening.

I know you can buy all the above in Thailand, but want them prescribed by my GP, so he knows what I'm on, any potential interactions, regular blood tests to monitor etc.

This attack that's pretty much over was more in the ball of my foot and to the side of it like where a bunion would be. Was much more sore than previous, longer lasting as well. Another reason to get on the Allopurinol, prevention better than cure, and it time it was dissolve the crystals already formed since I started getting gout this past few years.

Colchicine can cause liver damage, so that's another reason to prevent gout attacks and stay on Allopurinol.
