Probably South Wales, looking at a few houses next week in Neath, Swansea and the Rhonda Valley.

I’ve got a mate who’s a Swansea boy, but lives in Bristol, has a healthy portfolio in both ,  there if you need a contact I could probably get some agents details that he recommends ?

Already got some houses to look at in Neath and Swansea plus Pontypridd, will see how that goes but hope to be near to your neck of the woods within 5-6 weeks. Just need the Bristol Thai Festival and the Swansea Air Show to come alive again but doubt it before 2021.

Thanks for tip, will keep in touch.

Just had a real smile moment.

A couple of months back my lap top decided to stop working and, like an idiot, I hadn't backed it up for a while.  I had saved my photos to a flash drive so thought OK but my documents had been lost. I had an Ultra Passport with 1TB on which contained all my data from a previous PC and the data up to 2018 on the laptop but thought the external hard drive was in my safe in my place in Thailand.

Anyhow took the laptop off to a techie shop nearby and he said the hard drive was gone so asked what he could do and he offered to put in a new 500 GB hard drive for 80 quid with Windows 10 thrown in. Thought a good deal and he duly sorted it out plus he managed to get a bit of data off the old hard drive but only documents not photos.

Got the laptop home and proceeded to set everything back up and then put in the flash drive which gave me an 'oh crap' moment when it looked like all the files were there but on trying to open it I had about 1KB of data, what happened there.

Got Porn to phone home and go into the safe to find the 1TB hard drive which was no where to be seen so I thought I must have brought it over in 2018 and put it among my things. Another thorough search around the house found nothing so I thought all the photos from 2012 onwards were lost including many of my daughter from birth, I was not happy.

Forward till today when Porn and I were having a clear out ready for hopefully moving home within the month.  Hiding underneath some tools and some essential household documents was a box of Christmas cards and for unknown reasons there was my 1TB Ultra passport tucked in, oh happy day.

Duly attached it and found everything off my old PC and, more importantly, every document and photo from 2012 to 2017, I was elated. Updated a load of photos off Porn's Facebook and phone as well, she has kept every photo and video since she got a new phone in 2017 (over 7GB) and although I had transferred them to the lap top previously we had not deleted them off her device.

Today I am real happy that I found my Ultra Passport......

Nice one, I have all of my files backed up on 2 external drives as well as my current laptop.

A little tip, if the pics are not dodgy, open an extra face book account, upload your pics in albums. It's easy safe storage which should never go away.

Cheers,

Nearly all the photos are still on my wife's Facebook, she just takes so many and nearly all end up on Facebook.  Most of the photos I have are of our daughter so likely taken at the same time as my wife quadruples my tally. I do have quite a few taken on trips and I do need to keep on top of backing those up so adding those to Facebook is an option.

I gave up taking dodgy photos years ago.

Just woken up @6.45

Coffee machine perking away.. the sun is out, the sky is blue, there's not a cloud, to hide the view, but it's raining, it's raining on my heart.

Going to buy a new laptop today, a Lenovo with Intel i7 or AMD Risen 7. Not sure yet. Hate parting with money but my current machine is overheating and on its last legs. Had it for 6 years so it's been a good boy.

Take a look at the Lenovo X1 Carbons ( 7th gen ) .. super fast machines .. lightweight .. great keyboard ... a really nice machine

The only problem with most Lenovo's these days is that the memory is soldered to the motherboard .... so if you decide on one .. get the most memory that you can get ... with a 1 or 2TB ssd drive .... UHD graphics  .. you will be rocking!

Thanks for that info CS.

I shall look into those and see whether it fits into my budget.

I normally store files externally but also apart from Windows, I will be loading other programmes which will eat up space so I take your point. I will be using it mostly to run Steinberg Cubase.

A little trip with a British mate to Seminyak, which is usually Aussie Central. Idea was to have a few beers and later lunch at my regular Belgian place.

Legian street, which is THE street for tourist, dead, many shop fronts boarded up with plywood. We got dropped of at the entrance of the street I usually walk to the beach. DEAD, everything closed, except my regular corner bar, lucky us.

11.30 am, we were the first customers. In 30 min we spend there I saw 2 white faces, maybe 30 locals and less than 15 cars. Pretty depressing.

Main reason is that this area has very few expats, and lives only on tourists. Whereas where I live there is a fair number of resident expats, who keep things a bit busy.

Jumped in another Grab car, off to the Belgian place which happened to be open.

Dutch split pea soup for me, pumpkin soup for my mate. The real thing, not the watery stuff.

And Flemish stew as main course.

No more Belgian beer because of some some obscure import regulation problem, so Bintang it was...

And after that back to our pensioners resort for a drink at the beach in a familiar and smiling environment.

Just another day on the island of the Gods .....

this morning I manually shovelled 2 tons (metric) of earth by hand into 2 large bags for disposal at my mates farm , and it was not pleasant,  however because the wife wants a new patio, she gets what she wants, although at the rate she is spending our money, she's going to end up underneath it.

Also, just ordered 4 bags of quicklime and a meat cleaver.

When you upload a picture file to Facebook, doesn't FB reduce the file size?
