Mmmm I would too...

Fortunately surprisingly quick, that queue. About 30 minutes in a queue to check in. Almost caused a diplomatic incident as the young 4sum Chinese group took my legs out from under me for the 3rd time. I pointed out that I was behind them ,(gesturing to the couple in front), and that the Chinese people were behind me and would not be getting infront. If they wanted to offer me their trolley as a wheelchair I would be delighted...

The first two security areas had signs saying "full, use area 3."  So I did. 10 minutes to get through security and immigration.

Now sat in BKK airways lounge, eating puff pastry pizzas.

Been in there also, saw Carabao in there some years back.

🙂

Absolutely brilliant night, the place was jam packed to the rafters due to the appearance of a Thai superstar (so I am told) called Zak Chumphae.

Have to say I had a great night which had been fueled by 2 liters of dark beer in the Underground pub at the Pullman. Oh and 2 red wines at Pomodoro with my Sicilian pizza also.  It was Blend 285 with coke at Tawan Daeng from about 2230 till 0200.  Not like me to get bladdered but I felt it today and the toilet was used to support my chin at one time, just woken up and feel better but was still a great evening with Porn and her sisters, cousins.

Even got to shake the hand of Zak which amused all the Thais (just did it to impress Porn ). Thai guys kept coming over and clinking my glass, real friendly crowd and shows that the Thais know how to party in the boonies.

Something I have been considering for some time.  A report on the whole experience on the ferry and then getting to hotel would be appreciated.

Be interested in hearing your views on the ferry crossing plus ease of getting transport at the other end.

OK.

To book your tickets you can either do it online or go to their booking office at Bali Hai pier. It may pay to check the weather and book closer to the days of travel as they do not refund your money if the trip is cancelled. At the pier it is a bit like the airport where you need to go to a checkin counter where they punch a hole in your ticket. You then go to another area to have your luggage scanned. When you are at the pier near the gangway you drop your bags off in a designated area. The luggage gets loaded onto the boat by the crew.

The boat leaves Pattaya at 13:00 and is supposed to take 2 hours but we arrived in Hua Hin 30 minutes late. The boat arrives in Hua Hin in a little inlet about 7kms out of the main town area. It is a bit of a shambles when the crew unloaded the bags as everyone justs crowds around the gangway and creates one large bottleneck. At the pier it is the normal kaos with taxi touts trying to get you on their taxi to take you into town. There were 4 of us and our girls were trying to get us our own separate taxi but all the touts were offering shared rides it seems. We walked over to an empty baht bus and the girls got us the price of 500 baht for the 4 of us. We piled in the back and then the games started with the driver.

He said he wasn't ready yet to leave. Then he said he needed a smoke before he went. What he was actually doing was looking for a single traveller to put in the front with him for the trip into town. He did find someone and then we set off. Takes about 15 minutes to travel from the pier into the main area of Hua Hin. I thought for the distance that 500 baht for the 4 of us as reasonable. So from the time we left Pattaya till we got to our hotel was a bit over 3 hours.

Hope this helps.

Update: Looks like you can get a Grab taxi from Hua Hin town back to the pier for around 250 baht.

Been sitting out on my beloved deck since 4:45AM. Was a nice breeze with some crispness in the air which made me think, maybe, just maybe this will be a blue sky day which seem to suddenly be getting rarer and rarer. But, no, now that the sun is rising I look on the horizon and this might be the smoggiest day in BKG history. Here is to hoping I am wrong.
