Doug Posted March 17, 2023 Posted March 17, 2023 Went to Time bar today for breakfast. When the waitress brought my cup of coffee there was an ant crawling around the lip of the cup. I showed her and she promptly smashed it and wiped her finger off and pushed the cup towards me. I didn't expect a new brew but a fresh empty cup I thought would be in order. I asked for one and she looked at me like "why?" And then brought me an empty cup. So roast me if you want but are my expectations too high?
Doug Posted March 17, 2023 Author Posted March 17, 2023 I will add that if it wasn't on the drinking edge of the cup I wouldn't care.
forcebwithu Posted March 17, 2023 Posted March 17, 2023 Unless she smeared the squashed ant around the entire lip, you probably still had 340° to drink from. But yes, I would be annoyed too if a server did that to me. 2
fygjam Posted March 17, 2023 Posted March 17, 2023 Surprised she didn't charge extra. Those are ant eggs. 3
Toy Boy Posted March 17, 2023 Posted March 17, 2023 Just remember that the Thais consider certain types of ant to be something of a delicacy. Unless it was a fire ant or some other nasty stinging species, they probably don't care very much. 1
boydeste Posted March 17, 2023 Posted March 17, 2023 I would probably have killed it, then just cleaned the lip of the cup myself. 1 3
Glasseye Posted March 17, 2023 Posted March 17, 2023 I would flicked it off myself. But, when she did that I would have walked out based on the shitty attitude. If it was a roach I would have walked out regardless.

The table cloth had ants on it, they were swept away by the waiter, then the plates came out with food on which also had ants running around. We walked out after complaining. I never went back, terrible place. p.s we hadn't ordered ant curry. 1 1 1 1

My main concern when folks come over to taste my homebrew is that a rat will stroll across the table and casually start eating the crisps ... 6
