Great pictures. My deepest   respect and love to all those brave soldiers and airmen that were  incarcerated in Hanoi Hilton  during the Viet Nam war. I was a B52 crew member 1964 - 1966 and was one of the "Lucky Ones" that was not booked into the Hilton.  God Bless them as it was not easy for them.

Yes it was built by the French to house Vietnamese prisoners and they didn't treat the inmates well. 

Hanoi is an amazing place.

I would recommend a lunch/stay at the Legend Sofitel Metropole, so much history. It had to be on my itinerary so I had a beer and a Caesar salad, it was pretty expensive but I felt immersed in history.
