Hotels in Sukhumvit area of Bangkok

Recommended Posts

Will need to stay in Bangkok one night in September before my early morning Finnair flight. Normally stay airport area but it is always limited in what you can do so I thought, as I am coming up from Hua Hin, I would have a night in the big city.

Looked for info on here via search but the topics that came up seem to be archived and I can't access them (I believe).

Any thoughts on a decent hotel around the Sukhumvit area between Nana and Phrom Phong (1 stop passed Asoke). Looking for price no more than 2500 baht and it doesn't need to be girl friendly as I won't be partaking. I will be going to the airport around 4 am so probably no issue with traffic so either side of road is fine.

Any suggestions from recent experience.

I always stayed in dynasty grande on soi 6

couldn’t fault it . But I don’t know what is it like after covid

I stayed there for the first time a few weeks ago. It was fine, but I didn't like that it had no restaurant.

The place I had hitherto usually stayed is The Dream Hotel in Soi 15, but they did not reply quickly enough to my very late booking request. I have recently received an email from them saying that they are no longer affiliated with the Dream Hotel group and, from 30 May, will be known as Night Hotel, Bangkok. However, the staff will not be changing, and they don't seem to have amended their website - https://www.dreamhotels.com/bangkok. It seems to be about 3K per night, but is/was a very nice hotel.

I also stayed here in January for 3 nights when I met up with the guys.

Very happy with the room for the price.

Also the location is good if you like to be near to soi 4.

I looked on Booking.Com and Agoda and for my date in September the rate was £82 which is around 3600 baht, a little bit much for what i wish to pay for about 12 hours stay. I have stayed there and it is a great hotel. Rates may come down.

I also spent a few enjoyable nights in the Galleria Sukhumvit 10, very similar comfort to the Dynasty Grand.

That gets my vote , located on a quiet Soi with easy access to both Cowboy and Nana nightlife and perfect for the parks

There is a park plaza right on the Asok intersection I’ve stayed at a couple of times that is pretty good (think 4 star business type hotel), think I paid more or less what your budget is. Have got terminal 21 mall and food court opposite and plenty of other eateries in the area. Also you’ve got the sky train and MRT right out side your front door for easy travel to airport although you need to change trains once (Makkasan I think but I forget 🧐)

Haven't paid over 2k for the Dynasty in Jan, Feb & March this year, 3.6k is way over the top. You would think September would be cheaper!!

Their own website does the best rates, but i've just played around and put in 3 random Friday nights in Sept and got 3.4K🤯

Same nights that Galleria 10 the guys recommend can be done for 1.8k, quiet soi

I have a booking at Dream Hotel now, but no payment upfront needed with cancellation allowed just prior to check in. Got a silver room for around £54, had a couple of quid discount (5%off)

My decision really was based on the fact that I know that area quite well when doing various trips to Trendy building etc. I like staying on the north side of Sukhumvit as I find more to do.

We (TWF and I) like staying at the Marriott Executive Apartments on soi 55. There is a rooftop bar with various types of people.

I also have stayed there by myself as I enjoy the Thong Lor area. I find it more pleasant to be away from Farang Gulch. Lots of MPs in Thong Lor and easy access to the BTS to get over to Nana etc.

Usual cost for an apartment with kitchen is about $100 USD a night. There are also apartments near the Emporium (soi 33), but I believe these are a little more expensive.

Would really appreaciate hearing what you think of the Dream. Been around for years but never stayed there- guess it must have had a refurbishment?

Can highly recommend the IM cafe in the Trendy Building, ground floor. As you enter the main entrance, take a left down the corridor with the small shops. Cheap, super friendly Thai run place. Great coffee, smoothies, toasted sandwiches and cheap Thai food (50 baht for the 3 Thai dishes they have on their blackboard as daily specials).

Thanks for the advice. Got a personal message from Dream saying they are looking forward to my staying with them. Was a nice touch as I hadn't messaged them. Basle did say he had stayed there so probably has a view on the place.

I had passed the place quite a few times and looked interesting for a stay so happy to have booked. Great location for me.
