Booked Manila to Boracay round trip for P1200/THB 750 all included in late Sept.

I saw this recommended on a YT vid so tried it out... I like the London +250km choice and will definitely add it to my usual searches when I book for next year..

Is that Manila to Caticlan or Kalibo? Good deal either way but especially if to Caticlan.

Caticlan. Just a short ferry from airport to the island. Statistically, some of the flights are under 1 hour.

When I used to go there I always went via Caticlan through choice, once went via Kalibo and hated it.

Loved the flights on Asian Spirit Dash 7 and the Seair Let410 aircraft from Clark or Manila.

No ferry port back then, just a 30 peso trike ride from Caticlan airport to the pier, a banca across to Boracay and disembarking directly into the sea at station 2. Used to carry my wife on my shoulders while giving a porter 20 peso to take my bags to sure.

Good days.

Kiwi make big promises but reportedly fail to deliver when something goes wrong.

They'll knit together a trip using different suppliers so you aren't the responsibility of any airline if you misconnect.  Kiwi say they'll sort this out if it happens but are not easily contactable and any extra accomodation or food is down to you.  Never expect a refund off them either.

I read this too but decided I'll eat my P1200 round-trip ticket if something goes awry on the departure. There was a recent delay when I booked with Agoda. There wasn't anything they could do as it was the airline that was the cause of the delay. The lesson is pay lower and take risks or pay more directly with the airline.

Yep, I deselected "Overnight stop overs" and "self transfer" which of course limits the usefulness of what they are trying to achieve but the +/- 5 day search threw up PE flights and BC flights that swung by 600 quid depending on date and mixed cabin flights within the same carrier(does that even make sense? I know what I mean)

I think it is a useful tool similar to skyscanner to cut through loads of options to then book through the carrier or preferred booking agency....

It is worth a play around with anyway ..

It's funny when you read back your post and see the terrible spelling error as below:

'Used to carry my wife on my shoulders while giving a porter 20 peso to take my bags to sure'.

Shore lol

Caticlan is the best airport to fly into, first time there we flew into Kalibo just because we wanted to do some sightseeing on the way into the pier. took forever but the mountain and scenic views were good and we stopped off for food and pics.

My biggest gripe with the whole Boracay experience is that fucking pier rigmarole.

go to a booth to buy a ticket for the ferry.

go to another booth to buy a ticket for tourist entry.

go to another booth for an eco tourism ticket.

go to another booth to buy a ticket to get through another gate to buy another fucking ticket for the fucking porter.

go and see someone to hand in your ferry ticket.

go and see someone to hand in your eco tourism ticket.

go and see the porter to give your ticket to.

go to the ferry and give them your ticket with the porter.

Do this with 100 other people with no concept of the word "queue".

or

Get a Filipino to do it for you.

It's well worth it though, but honestly, for the melee that is the pier nowadays, just hire someone for 200 php or get your Mrs to do it.

Sounds like you need a vacation.

Tip porter P20 or DIY. Not more than 3 booths in 3 minutes.

I've waited much longer at the supermarket.

That was my experience last time I was there, hated it, it was so depressing with all the Chinese tours there. Those tourists walking the beach path with loud speakers and getting in your way.

Such a contrast to my first few trips in the late 90s and early 2000s with my first wife. Never needed to worry about bumping into anybody else, few people about, never a need to reserve a restaurant table and you could sit on the beach at Charles bar watching the sun go down before getting cocktails at Cocomangas. Then back to Nigi Nigi Nu Noos for a nightcap

Just a banca from the beach back to Caticlan , no need to pay any tourist subsidy, it was beautiful back then.

Go in high season or at Xmas then. Not much fun at all.

Boracay is great though, We stayed at Jonies on the beach as the Mrs went to college with Jonie so we get a discounted rate. good rooms and a good set up.

I do prefer Bohol though, more peaceful and some great architecture.

I do actually need a vacation, the Mrs is currently in Manila and enjoying it. weather isnt too horrific either for the time of year.

I've got 3 Boracay trips booked. Round trip P1200-1800 net each flight. The rates plunge again in February but even the high season rates are not eye watering. The island is big enough and there are beautiful guarded beaches in the new coast area without boats, tourists, and vendors. See Belmont hotel for reference.
