mrcharliemofo
As the title says, Lufthansa Business Class, has anyone used it and can tell me if it's any good or not ? I've seen some flights next year for around £1700 from Heathrow to Bangkok via Munich. The middle East airlines are wanting upwards of £2300 and that is a bit out of my comfort zone.

galenkia
Only used Lufthansa once, and that was economy class, but was really nice. Return flight was on Austrian and was a very tired looking plane. So I guess business class would be nice if they haven’t cut the service. 1

Yes, I used them a couple of years ago. I was not impressed. In all honesty, I think Premium Economy on EVA is a better experience. Munich airport was a nightmare. Lacking sufficient helpful signs, and a long distance to the next plane. I took a long walk to a Lufthansa lounge, only to find it was closed. And coming back, even though I was in transit, they went through all the checks again, which was a real pain because it then included all the Covid stuff. 1

I might be wrong but I think I flew Lufthansa once to Moscow via Frankfurt from Birmingham ? Like you it was a decent enough flight. Never used Austrian though. 1

Interesting about the long walk as the transit time is 1hr 45 so using the lounge wouldn't really bother me as I'd be more concerned about catching the next flight.

Painter
Can't comment on Lufthansa, but can on austrian and swiss, both in business, and part of the same group of airlines. Flights were october '23 and march '24. My austrian/Swiss package was booked on the Lufthansa website... I flew Austrian from lhr to bkk. One of the smaller terminals (t2?). Used the same lounge as Eva and many others, which was ok, but busy. Food/service was OK. Seats were weird, but OK for sitting in, and comfortable for lying on. The issue was getting from one to the other, as you needed your knees to bend backwards to get under the TV. If you can contort yourself to do it on your side you'll be OK. Seating is a 1 -2-2 layout. The single seat has much more space, so they charge a premium on it. The middle set of 2 are staggered, one is on the aisle, and has minimal storage, but you can lower the outer arm rest to get out of bed. It's neighbour has much more storage, but it's easier to raise the bed to a seat to get out. See the bit about knees bending earlier. Had a 40 minute layover, which was nerve wracking, but as the vienna-bkk flight was delayed slightly it wasn't an issue. Return bkk to lhr was on Swiss, flight experience was much the same as Austrain, seats seemingly the same. Had a 2.5 hour layover in Zurich, where the lounge, once you'd found it, was a typical airport lounge. Both the lhr Vienna and zurich-lhr legs were European business, ie, economy seat with an empty seat next to you. I have a vague recollection of buses being used at zurich, but not sure. Can't comment on inflight entertainment as i dont use it. Not as good as the middle eastern airlines by a long way, but they did the job. 1 1
richy65
I was a big Lufthansa fan until the prices shot up. Flew business class from BHX to BKK via Munich in 2022. Comfy seat next to window but no direct aisle access as it was a 2-2-2 layout. Much prefer Air France now because you get a more private seat and prices are much cheaper at least in December when i go to Thailand.

One reason I am considering flying back via a European stopover is the short hop back to LHR/LGW after taking a shower in the lounge so I'd need more time if it is a long walk .. 1
bob lt
Booked Austrian business in 2022. Flew Austrian LHR VIE BKK and return Lufthansa BKK MUC LHR. Lufthansa lounge at LHR was not particularly good, not much choice of food, free pour beer and wine but no spirits. LHR to VIE was ?320 with centre seats blocked off, OXO OXO. Short flight, reasonable meal and constant top up of wine glass. Only 40 minutes between flights at Vienna but easy to do. 777 to BKK,with a 2 2 1 layout. Had picked a centre aisle seat but when invited to check in online I was able to change to the single throne seat free of charge, normally around £250 extra. Welcomed on board by name and offered juice or champagne. Tapering seat but fine for me. Food was good, plenty of choice, great service. Return was with 2 2 2 layout on A350. Royal Thai Lounge at BKK and Lufthansa Lounge at MUC. Airbus to LHR with same seating arrangement. April 2022 I paid £1397 return, unfortunately that price was never available again. Will add pics from my mobile later. 1 2
