Butch Posted June 15, 2024 Posted June 15, 2024 As we've all pretty much been drunk on one or the other at one time or the other, I'd ask if you feel any difference. I rarely get drunk these days, if ever so i'm kind of working on memory. When I'm drunk on beer I'm very relaxed, happy and laughing, but tend to call it a day early and retire to a comfy bed with a pizza. However this is usually after a long, paced day of drinking. Overall I'm a happy go lucky guy wanting to be everyone's friend. On spirits I'm much "sharper" - ready to argue and generally happy but needing to put my point across to all and sundry with flawed reasoning. Hence I don't tend to drink spirits anymore, and if I do it is Gin which is good to me. Overall I'm a happy go lucky guy demanding everyone becomes my friend and if not, why not. When I've not had any booze but am in the company of those who are drunk, I'm just a happy go lucky guy looking out for pissheads who need to get home safely.
forcebwithu Posted June 16, 2024 Posted June 16, 2024 Can't say I notice any difference whether it's been a night out drinking Leo vs SangSom. Never have a hangover with either which I attribute to drinking plenty of water before crashing for the night. 1
Freee!! Posted June 16, 2024 Posted June 16, 2024 Can't say I can tell the difference as I don't drink beer (it is just extremely immature whiskey) and I've never gotten drunk on anything other than strong liquor and rarely at that.
Glasseye Posted June 16, 2024 Posted June 16, 2024 I have seemed to have developed some kind of natural cut off valve when drinking. Typically will pound a couple of quick ones (beers or Sangsom) then coast on an even keel for as long as I care to, rarely out of balance. Usually I reach a point where just don't want another, then head for the bed and nightie night. Never get a hangover, just not worth it (I enjoy my mornings too much now). 1
richy65 Posted June 16, 2024 Posted June 16, 2024 I much prefer getting drunk on beer, lots of wine or spirits make me sick and the hangover is a lot worse. 1 1
galenkia Posted June 16, 2024 Posted June 16, 2024 Whiskey turns me into a violent psychopath. I’m okay with everything else, but I don’t drink alcohol now. Though since my mental breakdown a lot of aggression has come back.

The worst case I've ever dealt with was a 95 pound squirrelly 18 year old girl fcuked out of her mind on Dog knows what. She was soaking wet with sweat. It literally took about 8 guys to get her under control. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Excited_delirium Edited June 16, 2024 by Glasseye 1 2
Phantom51red Posted June 16, 2024 Posted June 16, 2024 Used to like getting drunk on chang and sansom, haven't been drunk in years, prefer a few beers no and then, used to get drunk on redbull vodkas and wouldn't remember much the next day, those days are over.
coxyhog Posted June 16, 2024 Posted June 16, 2024 Well last night I had 5 pints of Timothy Taylor Landlord followed by about half a bottle of white wine with my beef massaman followed by a small glass of Black Bush....felt pretty rough when I woke up around 4am for a leak but went back to sleep. I've just done 2 hours in the garden mowing the weeds & cutting back bushes & trees & I still feel a bit rough. Time for a hair of the dog.... As a pisshead one has to be adaptable. 1 2

Staying active helps to balance things out. That's why I don't mind getting soaked with sweat on most days. I get to where I'm going, wipe down and take a short breather for a couple minutes (change shirt if necessary). I sweat out all the toxic shit before the next round. Work before play has always been a basic rule for me. Keeping the heartrate at a good level and the liver relatively clean are the keys to good health. Not doing so can lead to a quick downhill slope for blokes our age. Back in the day I could put down quite a lot, but if I drank what you mentioned above I'd be sick as a dog. Although I have to admit a few days back I tied one on pretty good (just beer though)... couldn't figure how certain things were where they weren't supposed to be. Oh well, on to the bike and off to the gym/market and everything was back to normal. 1
Yessongs Posted June 18, 2024 Posted June 18, 2024 (edited) These days, seems to me that my plan is working very nice. Have either a glass of Wine or a Beer with dinner. Then 2-3 Bourbon/Whiskey Cokes during the rest of the evening, feel just good enough to laugh, kick up my heels and enjoy what ever is happening and NO hang over the next morning. Nightcrawler Posted June 18, 2024 Posted June 18, 2024 Spirits work quickly for me and I can control them more easily. Beer just blotes me and more trips to the toilet. The downside is that they are much quicker to drink than beer and I tend to have more of them and at greater expense. 3
