Popular Post Butch Posted June 16, 2024 Popular Post Posted June 16, 2024 Wifey has just gone home, but the plane was late leaving LHR due to congestion. That meant the transit in HKG for the onward was missed (it was a small window anyway) , her along with another 48 passengers. Upon getting into HKG and going to the desk, the Mrs was stressed and tired, expecting to have to get the credit card out for another hammering. However, Cathay had already not only manned every desk they had and deployed staff on the floor to speak to the passengers, they had automatically bumped all everyone onto the later flight at no charge and even offered seat selection , so it was a relatively hassle free and well organised set up from the get go. It was just a question of handing over the old boarding pass, answering some questions and getting a new pass and then killing 4 hours in HKG , which, when armed with an AMEX that I pay for, is a fairly easy thing to do. However way I look at it, that is bloody top notch customer service from Cathay. The Econ fare return with 46 KG of luggage was £860 which also is not too shabby. 777 outward, A350 for the short hop. On that basis alone I've decided to rejoin Marco Polo family plus as there's another 3 trips in the offing within the next year, which is 9 LHR-HKG-MNL return fares, basically. BA should really take note. That's the way to run an Airline. 6 2
Mr. Smooth Posted June 16, 2024 Posted June 16, 2024 In 30 years of flying to SEA, I've flown with several Asian-based airlines, and have found all of them to have top quality service. Korean, Thai (many years ago), China Air, and mostly Eva....have all done a great job and as you suggest BA take note, that would also apply to many American carriers too. Not to mention the highly attractive flight attendants serving you. Glad your wife and all her fellow passengers were treated so well and eased her stress in getting back home. 1 1

Totally agree with every word mate, especially the 30 year marker because that was when BA started to turn to shit. Prior to that, BA flights to Kai Tak and Beijing were an absolutely wonderful experience .. My thoughts on Cathay Pacific can best be described thus ... 2 1
