Sorry... but I had to chuckle. One of those days when you just think it can't get any worse.....

Good story.

You never know what your bag can come in contact with. For that matter what someone could slip into your bag at any moment, in a split second.

- Never pack bag and leave unattened, even at home.

- Always rummage your bag and clean with cleaning spray before packing.

- Keep bag close to you at all times.

- And don't pet the doggie when it comes to sniff you.

Reminds me of my first time in Asia 1979.  I was in the departure area of Kathmandu airport waiting to board when a page went out for -  Mr. Redwood, Mr. Redwood - report to customs and luggage.  So walked over to see what they wanted, but with that page the whole departure area suddenly seemed to go quiet and I swear all eyes where on me.

Why?  First of all there were signs seemingly every few feet throughout the airport warning about the consequences of drug smuggling and more importantly one of the big hit movies of the past months had been Midnight Express.

And all they wanted was to verify my destination.  "Are you going to Delhi or Varanasi?"

"Varanasi."  And that was that, though perhaps to the disappointment of some of the onlookers.😇

I always get nervous when walking through customs .... and I'm not carrying anything I shouldn't be 555

I've only been stopped twice in all my years of travel and both times they were checking for cigarettes..

Y'know its odd, but I'm sure they have passenger screening down to a fine art at Heathrow. The only times I have been stopped (3 times?) was when I had to rush to catch a National Express coach that I had booked on line. All other times I was just sauntering along without a care with a hotel or pickup booked.

I have said before that the worst Customs Checks for me were at Brize after returning from jungle training in Belize. I had done some doby in the jungle river just before we were choppered out to Belmopan. I attempted to hang it all out to dry before being called forward to a Vicky 10 out. The looks on their faces as they pulled out all my soggy OGs carrying their own ecosystem was like a vegan with a plate of steak tartare..!!!

I've discovered Doby means washing clothes, its from an Indian word for someone who handles the laundry "Dhobi" A Vicky 10 is an aircraft. Not sure about soggy OG's, maybe wet clothes? Maybe best not to know!

I'll never forget the attractive customs lass tearing through my bag one time at ORD.

"What's this ?" As she pulled out a bunch of viagra and a cock ring.

Er.... Move along.
