Swiss Air.

Just been looking at ticket prices for the back end of January and Swiss Air came up at £631 return in Economy class. This is with an agency of course and booking direct with the airline is a bit more expensive.

Has any BMs used Swiss Air? I would be grateful to know what your experiences were and if it's worth using them.

Next choice for about £70 more is Etihad.

Both choices flying out of Copenhagen.

I flew one way with them, the other being with Austrian. My flight was business, and so I can't comment on seat/service in economy, but the flight was punctual and got me from a to b. My food was fine. From what I saw of it, Zurich Airport was small but had all you'd expect, although memory says signage wasn't the best.

They (together with Austrian and Lufthansa, same group) are coming up cheapest for my next trip, and I wouldn't have a concern about using them again.

I think I have seen that offer .. Thanks.. Did you have time to try any of the Lounges, and did the "cheap" ticket include Fast Track ??

On the leg back to UK did you have time for a shower??

Some "Light" deals don't include everything, which is why I'm asking ....

Ooooh ..Another thing ... Did you fly from Eastleigh SOU ????

Lounge in Zurich was OK, once I'd found it. I had 60 minutes in there, can't remember seeing showers, but I wasn't looking, but plenty of time available.

Yes to fast track at both lhr and bkk. See screenshot for classes of business.

Seats in business are 2-2-2, comfortable in seat mode and bed mode, but getting from one to the other involved either bending your knees backwards to get under the TV, or lying on your side.

AFAIK,  the only airline that flies from SOU is KLM, and they have, last I looked,  changed their flight time so both legs are 20 and 27 hours. Having said that, I did see another "deal" that went via Edinburgh,  Doha, and Delhi , involving a train and 38 hours of journey...

Swiss Air went out of business post 9/11,they are Swiss International Airlines now.I worked for them in Zurich 2002-4 & in Geneva 2004.

Not the most safety minded company I've worked for,for instance to drive airside at Heathrow you need to sit & pass a course,Zurich in 2002 they didn't even check if you had a drivers licence.

But I'm sure they've improved.

RFO used to land in Geneva (flying between the 2 Mountain peaks)  - I remember hopping on HM's 747SP expecting to go straight to LHR from seeb when the Pilot informed everyone (after take off) we're heading into Switzerland to top up on goodies for the Royal Apartments. Added a good few hours to the journey.

Without going into a long yarn, checking in at the Military desk at Seeb for the flight was the closest I ever got to an Omani girl hitting on me. I was only 21, and told her my Dad said "hi" to her Dad as they were oppo's. She said with a big smile "you're his son? - wow". still smiling and went very red, she looked away. (so did I).

An Airworkee I knew married an Omani girl,he was a babe magnet, blond & very fit & handsome.

He had to become a muslim for this & I bumped into him a few years later at Southend airport.

It was ramadan & he was fasting & looked really ill.
