Vaccinations for Thailand

Recommended Posts

I looked at my travel vax history this morning, and concluded that I needed doses of 4 things to bring me up to date. I managed to get an appointment at a travel clinic in London this afternoon (needless to say, not NHS!), and learned a couple of things which might be of general interest.

1.  The current thinking is that the Hepatitis A vaccine should last 25 years. Previously it was 15.

2.  The current thinking is that the Hepatitis B vaccine should last for life.

So I didn't need either of those, even though I thought I did.

However, the journey wasn't wasted as I had Tetanus and Typhoid jabs.

Nobody getting a vaccine for Japanese Encephalitis ??

When I was getting everything jabbed up for a contract in Myanmar the Doctor was surprised that I wasn't covered so I willingly accepted his suggestion that I get it done..

When I was living there I also kept my JE up to date.

And Rabies.

Forget Cujo, those Soi dogs are a seething cesspool of biological hazards despite their benign demeanor.

Check the price of HRIG (if you can get it).

Yep I'm jabbed for rabies too.. Having worked out in the countryside in 5 African countries and "too many to count" Asian countries over the years I have always kept everything uptodate!
