Soi Arunothai beer bars

As long as I've lived at Nirun I've never actually walked around and threw the beer bars that are opposite the complex I always thought there were one or two over there there's never any business in them but they've been there for a while.

Today I decided to walk through the whole area and give it a look and to my surprise they have 13 operating beer bars over there two that are closed up and behind those beer bars there's a massive area that used to be a market for produce and meat and things like that and it's just vacant. And then beyond that there's area for monthly parking at the automobiles.

Not sure how these bars survive there's just nobody in them I just never see more than one or two people in any of them ever.

I am sure with the 9 carat condo complex which is very close and Nirun there's between 4000 and 5000 units I'm sure the people that bought into these bars probably figured hey we've got built-in customers well I think they were surprised.

Anyway I got some photos

Quite a few on the main strip closed when the 200m limit from schools was implemented ...

Is Shagwell Mansions still alive?

It's still there, but not sure if it's open or not ??

The connected Wombat bar, and Outback lounge closed a few years back, which was a great shame as myself and a few mates used to have some great times there.

A dozen or so years ago the space in this pic was occupied by several snooker tables. Then they put up walls and operated an illegal casino for a couple of years. The authorities then decided to clamp down on the illegal casinos and now, once again have the open, unused space.

There must have been an adjustment somewhere somehow because most of the bars there are now open they were only two closed out of all of the bars in the area so I'm guessing they're either open illegally or they've relaxed the distance for whatever reason

I remember it being turned into a casino around 5 years ago.

It a shame mate.

The bar at the front always had good custom, so did the one at the back called Money bar that I would spend a fair amount of time in.

My guess is they haven't recovered from covid, like in many quieter areas.

I used to spend a fair amount of time in Money bar as well. Business had really dropped off even before covid and IIRC it was sold on to new owners just before covid.
