Popular Post Yesitisdakid Posted August 1, 2024 Popular Post Posted August 1, 2024 A pleasurable experience at the airport this morning. I always dread going through this dealing with the immigration officer having to take off your shoes pull off your belt and the rest of it take out your laptop will this morning I got a big surprise. I checked in for my Manila flight went up to security in my bag I had a laptop a couple of telephones two power Banks my wallet keys everything else. I started to open it up and pull the stuff out that they were going to want to see they told me not necessary didn't have to take off my shoes didn't have to take off my belt all they wanted was to scan the bag and it's contents no need to remove anything. , the next big surprise was when I got the passport control they sent me to the epassport area where all I had to do was place my picture page of my passport down on the scanner smile for the camera and I was through no stamps no human contact with immigration officers. And it saved a place in my passport since no stamps were issued. The times they're changing. 2 2 4

The last two times I fly out of CNX they broke me down for stuff that was even acceptable. Pissed me off, and I let them know it.

Stillearly Posted August 1, 2024 Posted August 1, 2024 Was the same for me on my last couple of trips , plus you only have to take off your watch if it's one of those Pay watches , makes the process so much smoother
Jambo Posted August 1, 2024 Posted August 1, 2024 My UK passport doesn't work in the e-scanners. When I renewed it in Thailand I used one of the Pattaya agents to renew it for me. An excellent service with, I believe, the actual processing taking place in Hong Kong. It did not take me long to discover it does not work in e-scanners although there is no problem in being read at an Immigration desk.

It's a pain, interestingly my new passport in February worked at Heathrow, but wouldn't work at Gatwick. Hopefully my new new passport will work at both. 2
Yesitisdakid Posted August 1, 2024 Author Posted August 1, 2024 Well my US Passport on the cover at the bottom it's got a picture of a camera I think I read somewhere that the new passports that have that it will work on the E scanners but the people who are holding the older passports have to wait until they renew it to be able to use the lane for them. And now that I think about it it makes sense because the girl looked at my passport just the cover and then directed me to the epassport line. But with no departures stamp I'll have to make notes somewhere of when I returned I know they have it in their records but I want it for mine 2 1 1
Jambo Posted August 3, 2024 Posted August 3, 2024 Are there still two separate Immigration entrances within Swampy? One used to be able to walk past the invariably extremely busy Immigration entrance and soon reach a separate entrance which "could" be hardly used.

Yeah there are two still but the last couple times I've came through it was only about a 5-minute wait they seem to have a lot more officers and windows open to process people 1

One of those two airports needs to update their software. 1
