Getting Old

You're healthy until you're unhealthy. Although I have outlived some friends, there are moments where I am inexplicably feeling rough, like a hangover. I think it's my body's way of telling me to recharge my batteries. That's probably the best example of my aging.

I know exactly what you're saying couple of days before I arrived here in Manila I felt like shit no energy I was a bit worried after getting a good night's sleep and eating proper for a day I seem to be fine but now you don't know when you get older if it's just something that's bothering you for the day or it's something you're going to have to get used to everyday. For those that haven't yet gotten old I would recommend that you do not

Definitely energy levels. Hiking and cycling are a main part of my life, but recently noticed that longer distances are becoming more uncomfortable, and cycling up hills draining.

This results in taking naps which in turn starts a cycle of getting tired if you suddenley stop.

My conclusion, although a common issue when you age, it also illustrates the importantance to keep up a discipline or regime of regular exercise.

I have lost a few friends with a common thread of lack of excercise, poor diet etc..

I'm not bothered about hair on my head tbh .. I've embraced the Yul Brynner look .. I probably look younger , as if I had hair it would be grey 5555

I've noticed the same as a runner and occasional cyclist, more aches and pains and recovery time is much longer. I'm going to keep going as long as possible though.

I've fallen into the downward spiral of reduced exercise levels leading to lack of energy to reverse the spiral down. Part of the reason is increasing joint pain from decades of fairly intense sport activities. I'm still able to get out on the bike and crank out a ride of 40 - 50 km, but I'm afraid my days of running jungle trails are behind me.

I'm 67 now and noticed the increasing decline in physical ability a few years back during the pandemic. Because of the timing it's hard to say if it was the crazy rules during lockdown that limited the ability to exercise outdoors that in turn led to the decline, or if it was old age infecting my body.

Few things we have all touched on here.....yeah for sure, the jogging on the treadmill is becoming increasingly harder for me. Seems that the legs are feeling it more then the lungs....which is probably a good thing. I used to run at a speed of 6.5 a few years back, I am down to 6.2 now and the incline is now reduced too and seems to be a bit easier on the legs.

One other thing, which I hear alot from other guys my age too is, getting tired at night after 9:00pm. Wifey and I stick to a pretty rigid schedule. Dinner is usually 5:00pm, 1 hour later wifey runs on the treadmill, I run earlier, then take a shower, then re-treat upstairs to her woman cave and wait for her. She bought these 2 leather chairs for us a while back, these things are the most comfortable chairs I have ever been in. I just can't stay awake....it's unbelievable.

Yes, this is one of my biggest irritations.

LOL... never pull nose hairs, only clip.

I had tried wax for eat hair once. It failed. Hair came back in a couple days.

I just buzz them with the clippers, but there always seem to be a straggler. The long nose hairs that I miss really drives me bonkers.

Yes.... I had my first pedi in a long time yesterday (sorry, no pic).

Crammed into a small shop filled with Ch*nks who starred at me the entire time. When they finally left the girls and I had a good laugh.

That's why I am thankful I've never done much running. It's hard on your joints. My back aches from time to time, but usually manageable, but knees, hips and shoulders are good. Only biking and walking for me.

I know a gal who used to do a lot of marathon stuff, for years. Eventually she had to have major surgery on one her ankles. Months of recovery. Now, she still has trouble even walking.

Maybe you should consider some sort of swimming routine also, it's easier on the joints.

I have found good leather chairs/couch amazingly comfy. I may be buying some nice used ones from my favorite hotel

I have found over the years that I'm looking more and more like Homer Simpson.

I started of as a rich Mr Burns of course, but then acted like Krusty the Clown before turning into Barney Gumble ..

I'm quite contented with my life being Homer as I now have Marge to accept me as I am and generally pull me back from my latest precipice of disaster
