Best wet shave vs electric.

I tend to wet shave all the time, and have refused to by any gillette product due to their essentially misandrist and politically correct adverts, so basically they can go f**k themselves.

Nowadays I use Wilkinson Sword, but recently couldn't find my usual razors and ended up buying equivalent "sensitive skin" Bics, which now means my face looks like Freddy Kreuger on a bad day and my neck resembles a bag of rhubarb and custard.

For some reason the Bic despite being around the same cost, seems to be a far inferior product. I used it with the same shave gel and the same routine as always - but the blade felt blunt and dragged a lot, even to a point of me having to add more gel to help it glide.

I'm also considering spending some decent money on an electric, so if any BM's have a suggestion for a good quality electric razor which gives consistent and good result,s please share.

Alternatively, grow a beard, saves a lot of money on shaving equipment.

I wish I could, I'd love a full on Grizzly Adams, but any attempt at growing a beard will result in me looking like a poorly dressed peadophile.

I have been happy over the years with Braun electric shavers. Currently using the Series 9 Pro. Not cheap though. In fact pretty pricey.

Mate of mine uses a Pitbull shaver on his face and head.

Really rates it.

They are bloody good, but a bit of overkill because I've still got a full barnet, and the Mrs doesn't like me with short hair.

Swallow ya pride and buy a Mac 3.

All I have used for years and the blades are great.

Same here. Been using Mach 3's for decades.

Tried the Bics, but always felt the quality was substandard compared to Bics.

On par with the Mach 3 quality are Harry's Shaving Razors if one wants to avoid Gillette products.

Last time I used an electric was probably in my teen years because that's what the old man used. Once I tried a wet shave I never went back. Can't beat the closeness of a wet shave.

I used to use shaving cream from a can, or shaving gel, but on my 40th b'day my son gave me a gift of shaving soap and a brush. Been using that for close to 30 years. The shave is just as good as with canned shaving cream/gel, but a hell of a lot cheaper.

When I first started shaving , I had a "safety" razor .... so many nicks and cuts I needed at styptic pencil or bits of toilet paper stuck to my face ... tried a few electric razors , but I found they weren't that close or gave me a rash around the neck area , plus a few ingrown hairs ...  then went through most of the Gillette series and now stick to Fusion for my face and also head .. can't remember the last time I was cut ... they really are "the best a man can get " 🎵555 😜

5555555555 ! Funny as fcuk.

I have found a disposable that I like. I can't remember the name but will post when I find. I sometimes shave 2 or 3 times a day (mostly when I am entertaining the ladies).

I may break down and try @boydesterecommendation and for standard day to day. I have never been able to stick with electrics as they leave me feeling less clean.

There is nothing like a head shave with a good straight razor. There is a big shop across from Beefeaters (a little bit down from Kiss on 2nd Road). They are wonderful and I have had great experiences over the years there every time. This may sound strange.... but when I visit Patts it is one of my best moments. I am sure that they also do great face shaves if someone is looking to have a nice treat for the day.

A couple of my mates worked for Gillette when they had a factory somewhere near Hayes but they relocated to Poland.

Got a nice battery powered Mach something or other as did all their other mates which lasted me ages.

When it finally went tits up I'd just bought a load of blades so bought a non electric Mach 3 & it works great with Nivea shaving gel.

As others have alluded to.... Gillette mach 3 for me and has been since a young man. Nothing else compares, especially those throw away crappy face shredders like Bic.

Mach 3 are especially good if you have a few spots or moles on your face. Easily shave over them without looking like a murder victim.

As for after care... My go to is Nivea after shave balm. Nice refreshing feeling and smells nice also.

As I side note the mach 3 caters very well on the scrote aswell, provided you've done a bit of gardening first.

Mach 3 and Veet are a very good match BTW.!

Happy shaving fellas.
