That just about sums up my idea of what jazz musics about.

I know I'm being ignorant and I know these jazz chaps are accomplished musicians but christ it's a hard listen to my ears.

As for blue grass... No interest at all.

Feel the same with jazz, the couple of times I've been to clubs in the UK  been bored senseless. The Fast Show hit the nail on the head, the acts I saw were talented musicians but really smug, and showy.

Bluegrass I do like the little I've heard of it from seeing O'Brother where art thou?, by the Coen brothers

I always thought it sounded like musicians tuning their instruments during sound check.

I don't mind a bit of blue grass, as long as it's played by Cletus, brother Cletus, Cousin Cletus, Son of cletus and Cletus' sister, Cletus with backing harmonica by Cletus, the slack jawed yokel, but I really need to be in the mood to listen to it.

Jazz is a no-no for me, the shite they play in "trendy" coffee shops is akin to aural torture. I'd rather ring up a fax machine and listen to that for hours while removing my own lungs with a blunt teaspoon.

My introduction to live music was a couple of pubs in North London that played Jazz on a Friday and particularly Sunday lunchtime. Then day one of them called itself a "Rhythm and Blues"  venue and my musical taste moved on as well.

Tuba Skinny plays the typical music I listened to all those years ago. Erica, the singer sings great Blues as well.

I’ve loved old jazz and blues for a long time. Fats Waller, Lightning Hopkins, Muddy Waters etc.

We should be grateful to them for inspiring the likes of Elvis and the Stones

Time to check out some bluegrass mate. Enjoy !

Bluegrass? Not sure what that is..

Jazz? That's Miles Davis right?

Yes, that would definitely be Miles Davis.  Funnily enough just an hour or so ago I was listening to his interpretation this Cyndi Lauper composition on YT from a DVD "Live in Munich" from 1988.  It's over 8 minutes and he goes out quite a bit from the main melody.  I'll probably buy the DVD which is almost 3 hours in length.

I have several hundred LPs and Miles and Little Feat are tops in numbers of LPs of single artists.  I've been a jazz enthusiast since my early teens.  Bought my first in '54 when I moved to San Francisco.   But, I also have rock from the sixties and seventies as well as folk, R&B, ethnic/international as well as quite a few classical discs.  Mostly I was always up for something a bit different.  Same with movies.

Got to admit i know nothing about jazz. As far as i know Miles Davis recorded 2 jazz-pop fusion covers and here's the second one just because i think they're both great
