fygjam
Ever seen an aircraft or heard an aircraft but couldn't find it on an aircraft tracking website like Flightradar24 or FlightAware etc. It was probably LADDed. Under US LADD law (Limit Aircraft Data Display) tracking websites operating under the law are restricted in the amount of data they can display about an aircraft if the owner/operator of the aircraft has applied through the FAA to have the amount of data displayed restricted. Note, the aircraft can be owned/operated anywhere, it's the website that is restricted from displaying the data. Usually used by celebrities (either real or wannabe, try finding N757AF) or drug smugglers although a few years ago the local police helicopters were restricted. If you could hear or see a helicopter but couldn't find it on a tracking website then you knew it was the police because they were the only restricted helicopters. An example which happened earlier today. FR24 In my haste I clipped the text off but it just said N/A. FlightAware Ghost aircraft. RadarBox and my go to website ADSBexchange I guess ADSBexchange doesn't operate under US law.
Butch
We can pick up some Military Aircraft on FR24 in the UK, and our local police Helo shows up as well, but I've heard some Military stuff come over a few times and not seen anything on FlightAware showing. Even Rivet Joint was showing on flightaware as it soaked up all that lovely Elint from the Russians during the early days of the Ukraine Conflict, but it was probably circling looking for a 5 star Hotel to drop the Crabs off at.
