Etravel form required to enter/exit the Philippines

Traveling to the Philippines for the first time next week.

Mate of mine recently wasted over an hour clearing immigration as he didn't know you needed an electronic arrival form. You can sign up here.

https://etravel.gov.ph/

Without his experience I'd never have known either.

Poor from Philippines Airlines that they give zero information on this when booking. Have received 3 upgrade emails but nothing to say fill out this form online, unless you want a long wait at the airport .

Note also, this form has a link to a Customs Declaration form. The q code you get customs will look for.

Also, I have filled Etravel out a few times using my phone and sometimes a glitch has me stuck on the flight number, with no progress. I used a PC in an internet cafe and it went through OK.

Thanks.

It took me several attempts to complete the flight number field on my phone. The website failed to recognise a manual entry even when it was correct. Had to scroll down a long list of flight numbers and select it that way.

Have the QR code for customs downloaded so hopefully good for a smooth arrival 😁

Happy to show you around Manila

Thanks for the offer 🙂

However I won't be long in Manila. Have some friends meeting me at the airport, so will go with whatever they have planned

Good info for when I go to Philippines next year. Do you know how long you can do this before departing ex UK?

You don't need to have the QR code for customs when you arrive there it will already be in their system. I've used this three times in the past 2 months filled it out 3 days before I left when I arrived the first time I tried to show him the QR code he says once you fill it out it's in our system we know you filled it out.

They do the same thing for Japan...JAL sends an on line link so you can avoid hassles filling out forms before your arrival at immigration. You are sent a QR CODE and this worked very well when we went recently. 3 minutes at the window for both of us and all is well, stamped and wifey gets 14 days in Japan on her Thai passport.

Piss poor for PAL NOT to have let you know about this.

i have been to the Philipines only 2 times, in 1998 and 2000...1998 was a business trip where the locals on our last night in the office we had there, took us to Makati.....it was good, Went back with a buddy in 2000 and for some reason, it did not feel as safe for us...lot's of sketchy looking Philipino guys eye balling us where ever we went.

Have a great trip and I know you do not do trip reports/photos, but would like to hear your impressions as a first timer.

When I was in P Burgos in Makati few weeks ago I never felt unsafe but it is a pretty funky neighborhood in my opinion anyway not much to it to be honest not something I'd go back for the red light district anyway. Makati itself is amazing much to see and do

Makati is a pretty safe area, a lot of businesses and decent hotels. Obviously when it gets quiet after midnight it may be a little spooky.

On the other hand, going to Malate can be seen as an unsafe area. When in side streets I used to walk down the middle of the road (little traffic), just to keep an eye on the dark corners. It is a seedier area late at night and a few unsavoury characters can be expected in that area.

Just be aware of your surrounds and keep to well lit areas.

You were of course correct, no need to show the QR code.

Plenty of people were getting turned away for not having filled out the ETravel form.

Just done my departure declaration. Good that the majority of information was saved and didn't need to be re-entered.

I was pleasantly surprised and amazed that the Philippine immigration has their shit together and very orderly and quick unlike what I would really expect

I like threads like this, very reason to be interested in what forums can offer.

I have the E Travel link page already saved to favourites, ready for when I need to fill it in next year.

Hopefully the info will still be current then, but, of course this forum will be the place to find any updates should the entry details change.

Was my reason for posting having been the beneficiary of so much useful information on here and other forums.

By the time you travel the system will be bedded in and the requirement to complete the form on entry & exit better publicised.
