Butch
According to my dates, I'm due to arrive a couple of days before it ends. I hate Songkran, but I'm also in the position of having to take whatever dates I can get for a holiday at the moment, which is a bit of a first world problem lol. I'll avoid going out during the daytime and if I do head out, it'll be after 8 pm.. I'd like to open the floor for suggestions as to my options and if my fellow BM's agree if or not I'm on the right track: 1: Stay in the Hotel which has a pool and a gym, a restaurant and decent Cable. 2: Accept the invite of a friend to stay at his place out of town for a couple of days, shoot the shit and enjoy his hospitality. 3: Head on over to Jomtien via a Bolt taxi in the evenings and go see the bars there. 4: Head out in the evening, but remain within fairly close proximity to the hotel which has a few bars nearby (Soi 10) and last Songkran they were fairly well behaved (although I left before Wan Lai) 5: Spend evening time in Walking Street where Water throwing isn't as stupid as it is on Sois 6, 7 and 8. I'd thought of that, but in truth I just want to dump all my gear at the hotel and remain within the area rather than move around too much. It's only a couple of days, and I'm not like poor @john luke was when he had to quarantine during covid with only the 4 walls to stare at. I've got use of all the hotel facilities and the first day I normally stay by the pool anyway, so it might not make too many odds in that case.

fforest
No matter if the coast looks clear you can be nailed at any time in Pattaya....There is always that chance you will get soaked no matter how hard you try to avoid it. I am completely fed up with the whole Songkran shit show myself and have been for many a year.. Edited October 13 by fforest

Being in Pattaya a few days before the big day on the 19th is going to offer up some situations whereby you may need to leave the hotel. Even after 8 pm, you leave yourself open to some knobhead deciding you would be more attractive with a bucket of water over your head. Most other destinations enjoy the festival, but will have their celebrations on the actual dates of 13-15 April and then stop. Anywhere near the pool of your hotel could see kids spraying you with water. Personally, unless you wish to immerse yourself in the festivities, I would keep well away. 3

I had someone hibernating in his room in Jontiem during SG this year and he went stir crazy by the 15th. We were chatting and he was gobsmacked that I was sat in an outside bar in Bkk with no worries of getting soaked. A taxi to Bkk for a few days, job done! 1 1

I am going to have a week long enema party. On the final day there will be a special contest to see who can shoot a load of prune juice the furthest. The contest award will be a fig tree that the winner can plant proudly in their garden.
