Does anyone know if "The Watch Lady" is still trading within the market on Pattaya Tai opposite the Temple Car Park?

Yes she has a shop on the soi that runs behind where the old Market was not far from where you entered that market in the back if you're going toward Third Road she's on the right side her name is Sarah

Cheers mate.

I was a regular customer of hers but I wondered whether Sarah had survived covid. Many of her regular customers were visitors.

I have a couple of requests to fill.

@Jambo What were her prices / quality like mate?.

I also have a couple of orders for my next trip.

When I was doing trips over I used to regularly buy from her mostly giving them as novelty presents back in the UK.

The quality was excellent although I did get one complaint from my mate Woody when the second hand fell off his Rolex after 6 months or so. 😄

Sarah used to produce these top brand brochures marked with the ones she had moody copies of round the back.

I have no idea how much is going to be charged now but as I recall her prices were always more than acceptable. It helped that she always remembered me as a regular customer.

Mr Jacks is always a good option, I believe they stock various grades of copies and are transparent about the quality of each  ... I haven't purchased anything moody from them , but did buy a couple of seikos there last trip

  • 3 weeks later...

I visited Sarah, the Watch Lady this morning.

I had a job finding her as much of the market she has her shop in seems to no longer exist. I wonder if that was another casualty of covid?

I feel quite sorry for her as the shop is now in what has become the last row. You would have to know that she still exists, as there will be very limited foot traffic.

Anyway, she was pleased to see me and I simply asked her to show me some Rolex watches as I have to take one back to a friend as a gift. She went into a drawer and came out with a tray of maybe 30 different examples. Needless to say, the one I picked out was the dearest by some margin. It's for a friend but friendship goes so far so we settled at a lovely automatic Rolex watch 30% less expensive at 2,800 baht. Much dearer than I have paid previously but it will make a very nice present.

We had a good laugh as I once returned a watch to Sarah advising that maybe the battery had run out. When she stopped laughing, along with the staff, she told me the watch was an automatic and it stops if you don't wear it for a time.

That is protective wrapping round the strap.

They have cured the stuttering second hand. It is now nice and smooth.

It has been 20 years since I first bought a watch from Sarah. I used to give them as Christmas presents as one of my regular trips was in November.

The one I originally selected was 4,400 baht. Sarah, reacting to the look on my face, selected an alternative at 2,800 baht which was also a very handsome looking watch.

That is the one in the photo.

I have had a chance to get a good look at it now and the quality is excellent and so much better than the ones I bought off her in the past. Having said that, they were more than acceptable.

Good friend of mine bought a watch from her many years ago obviously a copy. Took it home wore it for another year or so and it stopped working came back to Thailand the following year. Went in to see her wanted to know if she could fix it wasn't looking to get it fixed for nothing. She asked him where he bought it he told her he had bought it from her years prior. Not sure what was wrong with it but when he went back to pick it up a couple days later she wouldn't charge him anything. I have used her over the years also always very happy with her
