My daughter will be the Corpse Bride tonight, she will be out with friends and parents.

Me, I will be watching TV, hoping no knocks on the door. Happy when it is 01 November.

I've been living in my house for almost 38 years and in all that time I've only had two kids at my door in the first year or so when there was a family briefly renting next door; we had no kids at all on our short cut-de-sac for all that time until about three years ago when three homes were turned over and new families moved in with kids that are still too young for Halloween. Besides that, my home sits at the very back of a big lot with a long, dark driveway which is hardly inviting for any potential trick-or-treaters...

My street is one of the main targets for kids and parents to visit tonight.

They even drive from their homes to drop the kids off at one end, then pick them back up at the other FFS.

It used to drive me nuts with a knock every few minutes, so much so I made sure I was out if not on holiday.

Fortunately there is an agreement now that they only knock on doors where they are displaying or have a punkin in the garden, or other such obvious things for Halloween.

Let's see how we get on tonight!

I know the feeling - I looked after my mother's house in mainstream local suburbia for a few years when she went into care and I'd just  go and hide in the pub until after 9:00PM or so; she used to get over 80 kids a night some years...

Some people here drive their kids around to different neighbourhoods too, which I don't approve of - it should be a local thing for the little ones, not a contest to see how much candy you can score.

Thanks for that Matt, I am nursing a hangover from last night at Nana....fucking crazy last night there...the girls were in top form. The Viet coffee shops do Halloween..Kim is on the left....do not know the girl in the center but...Tran the owner is on the right....Kim is the real deal....talked to her and Tran last June....great gals.

Ok so wifey is on her way out for girls night out soon...I will finish up resizing pics, write a narrative and post up tomorrow...

When in Nana...stay away from this gal...she was amped up on Yabba and could not understand a word she was saying...me and my buddies quickly got away from her....she insisted on me taking some pics of her....what a train wreck....

Personally, I never liked Halloween.

In my time in London it never really took off and it was only after I moved to Edinburgh that it became something to be aware of to any degree.

As for Halloween in Thailand, I disliked it intensely. All those lovely girls in Secrets making themselves look hideous when most customers couldn't give a toss about Halloween.

Then again, maybe just me being a miserable bar steward. 😄

Yep... My enjoyment of Halloween started to go downhill around about the age of 11. A pal of mine were out doing the rounds and had big bags of candy. We decided to hit one more side street and then go assess our bounty. We were walking along a sidewalk that was adjacent to utilitiy corridor (no houses). A car pulls up, some guy jumps out of a car, runs up to us, snatches my pals bag and runs back to the car.

We just looked at each other in disbelief, turned around and went back to my house. I split the candy I had collected with him and we called it a night. A few years following that more and more stories were coming out about razor blades and other shit being put in candy. That pretty much put kaput mode into Halloween for me. Didn't care for the party bull shit.

--------------------------------

Then later in life at my work....

The University campus became known throughout much of the Midwest as "the place to go and get f***d up out of your mind for college age kids". It started out small and then gradually grew each year until it became uncontollable. Massive headaches and associated costs, very difficult to manage, mob type situations, major brawls, injuries, accidents, etc. A couple kids fell of balconies and died so they decided to scale it back. We imposed a lot of changes to control it better and make it "less desirable". Took a couple years but it eventually settled down.

One year I was photographed and on the front page of the local rag. I arrested this super stoned  kid who was walking around in drag and fake titties showing (they looked real). Kid was f***d out of his mind walking in front of cars and shit. I caught some piss taking when the pic hit the paper. It was pretty funny.

I do enjoy some of the outfits some of the girls wear, but I agree with Jamster. That makeup they put on is nasty.

What did you give the two kids that did show up ? A broken saw blade and some wood chips ?   :default_527:

I've never took to Haloween here in the UK, it's more of an Americn tradition I think. It was great fun when I was in New York some years ago though. Never seen so many people dressed up as Elvis!
