Submitted my Non-IM O (Retirment Visa) Permission to Stay One Year Extension Yesterday

I know there are other threads, particularly by @forcebwithu , that cover this topic, but I could not find one I liked in the Search function. Like the title says I submitted my one year extension for my permission to stay yesterday. I thought I might recap the process in case it does someone some good.

  • I left the house about 9:30. I was back home about 1:30. Not bad considering that I live a 30 minute drive from Jomtien and the drive into Pattaya from Jomtien had pretty bad traffic.
  • I am filing 3 months before my current permission to stay expires. This is to avoid holiday and first of the year congestion and delays. My new permission to stay will be one year out from the current expiration date.
  • First stop was at the Bangkok Bank Branch near Immigration. I keep the 800,000 THB required balance in this branch and needed a letter to this effect. The bank was backed up a bit, but I was out of there in about 45 minutes. Cost of the letter is now 200 THB.
  • Like many others, I use Maneerat on soi Post Office (13/2) as my visa agent. The drive into Pattaya took about 30 minutes. I parked in the garage behind the Villa Market (no cost). I was out of Maneerat in about 20 minutes. I had all of my materials well organized. I was amazed at the percentage of other customers who did not. Basically, what is needed is passport, letter from bank, bank passbook, 2 foto ids (I had 2 left from last time), TM.7 info, proof of residence (mine showed on the bank letter). Cost was 9000 THB and that included a single Reentry Permit. Maneerat is very good to deal with. They are efficient and accurate.
  • I had to go over to Immigration to have my foto taken at Counter 7 by Mr. Football. I was given a slip of paper that gave me direct entrance to Immigration without waiting in line. Out of there in 10 minutes once the lunch break had ended.
  • Back home after stopping for a bag of fried bananas at Rompho.

The completed passport should be available by Friday.

  • Great Info 2
