Smiler
Reading a recent thread which has unfortunately been locked and noticed a BM saying he marked the site as read. I have just done it as well and I am wondering why. What is the purpose of this function? Does it make it any easier to navigate the forum? It would not appear to clear the feed - the threads I choose not to read are still cluttering up the page. Sure its no great chore to simply scroll past (no matter how many there are) and only open what I want but again what is the purpose of "Mark site read"? I use it occasionally when I've finished scrolling through the forum and there are lots of threads that I don't want to read left in my feed, mainly to give me a reference point for when I log on next time and hit the New Content button. As using the New Content button is the sole way I view the forum, this means that when reach the "read" section (pale colour, not bold) I know there's no need to go further. Not sure if that makes sense, but it does to me! 2 1

Ditto I read the topics that interest me, any left over that are not of interest is the time when I hit 'Mark As Read', that then clears all the remaining topics that I wish to leave unread. Next time I log on, I will view only new posts on threads, I may then use the Mark As Read' function again. It is a good way of spring cleaning my viewing of the forum.
boydeste
I didn't know the function existed. Now I do, I can't really see an advantage in it's use for me personally.
Nightcrawler
It's a feature that is rarely used on forums but can just remind members that they have read the last post of a thread and only want to see new additions Never used it myself and doubt most others have, but it comes with Invision software.
KWA
I don't use it much on this forum as it's small enough to be manageable, but on forums with many more posts it cleans everything up and lets me see easier when something I'm interested in has been added to.
