Popular Post forqalso
My Thai wife took her exam to become a US citizen today and passed with flying colors 🇺🇸. I’m living in Jomtien and she stayed in California. She studied the 100 questions by listening to the questions online and in the last few weeks leading up to her interview, I would quiz her daily. There’s a hundred questions but they only pick ten at random to ask. She would get 100/100 consistently with me and today in the interview she got all ten correct. Years ago when we went to the immigration office for her green card, we were turned away for having cell phones on us, so this time she left hers in the car. After they told her she passed, she waited about 30 minutes for the rest of the new citizens to complete their interviews, and they were all sworn in and given their Certificates of Naturalization. We weren’t expecting to have the ceremony right away or I’d have flown back for it. It turns out she could have had her phone and got pictures of her receiving her citizenship but we didn’t know. 1 2

biggles
I lived in OZ from aged 11, had no interest in cricket so could not get this one. What does an old sports question have to do with citizenship! Edited November 27 by biggles

Congrats. I went through this process with a PI now ex-wife about 20 years ago. Lots of work. I really have no ill feelings toward said ex-wife. We just grew apart and wanted different things going forward. The marriage lasted 10 years and was for the most part a good marriage.

This year we have been married 22 years and the first few years the marriage was difficult and has now improved to the stage where we get on really well. The reason for this is we basically lead separate lives and do whatever we want but the rule is we tell each other what we are up to and where we are. We both ask the other if they want to be involved in whatever is happening. We do, do things together but mainly go our own ways. I think we will be married to the end but in retirement my wife will move back to Thailand and I won’t. We will visit each other a couple of times a year I imagine. Some people never learn I guess. 🙂 My current wife (a Thai National) and I have been together about 8 years (married for 2) and live together in Thailand. We get along very well. We probably never would have legally married, but the number of assets we had acquired here in Thailand (house, car, motorbikes, bank accounts, condo, small farm, and a second house up North) made us decide to legalize our situation. Both the Mrs and I have wills that cover all of our assets here in Thailand. I actually want all of those assets (except for the car, house, and my bank account) to go to her family in the unlikely event that she passes first. Marriage should make the execution of wills more straightforward, although given that TiT ??? My US assets are covered by a US will that protects those assets for my US bloodline. Wife #1 was the last America woman I ever dated. We did acceptable as divorced parents as we both tried to keep the best interests of my two sons at the center of things. Post-divorce I spent 12 years in AA so that I could be a decent divorced father. I have not spoken to wife #1 in well over 10 years now and that is ok with both of us. Wife #2 was from the PI. I went through the entire soup to nuts Fiancee Visa thru helping her get American Citizenship. I taught her how to drive a car. Our original plan was that I would pay for her to earn a degree for a few years and then she could pursue a good job. She bailed on this and would hold several low paying jobs to support her family back in the PI. I paid for most US expenses. She was never at home. For 8 years I was seldom at home as well as I was an IT roadie. After I retired, things changed from my perspective. At that time I wanted to move abroad (decided on Thailand) and wife #2 wanted to stay in the US. Fortunately, I had put in place a prenup. I also had the prenup reviewed in Tagalog for her with a PI lawyer before she ever got on a plane. I knew this was a high risk marriage and felt I needed to protect myself. I think that I treated her fairly in the divorce proceedings. My US lawyer was yelling at me for being too generous at times. Of some interest both of my first two marriages lasted 10 years. hmmm - my current wife type situation is at 8 years. 😞 Anyway - men and women?? And for that matter people???? Who da f**k knows?  2
