AirBNB

Hi Guys, finally ready to depart for my trip to HuaHin.

I have noticed one thing on the conditions in staying in a AirBNB condo and that is

"WHEN LEAVING THE ROOM to go out, both air con units must be turned off otherwise you will be responsible overuse of electricity and get charged"

That is fine and understandable but what would be classed as overuse staying in a one bedroom condo? And how much is an electrical unit?

I really don't think this will apply to me as I prefer a fan to Air Con so I don't plan on having the Air Con on much.

I'm sure it's just to remind/scare the guest a little. The hosts make enough profit that it's an insignificant cost of doing business. They're probably more worried about stolen pillows, excessive guests, neighbour complaints, and [inexplicably] expensive towels stained from makeup removal.

The cost will depend upon whether they are being charged the Government rate or not.

Many have to pay an inflated rate.

It's approximately 4.2b per unit.

As per Sakik's comment I say it's just to scare you.

I've seen some very sharp practices on AirBnb in Thailand recently. A pal of mine last month (not even high season) did a number of bookings with Airbnb. He was charged an inflated price on everyone- could have got something far cheaper going directly to the property, or using booking.com et al.

My favourite was a budget hotel he'd boooked into near Asoke.

The hotel was adequate but old and tired-direct booking was 900 baht. He paid 1,500 baht for what was described on Airbnb as a boutique hotel😀

This was the worst example but every booking was an over-charge. My pal was a first time traveller who didn't know better- maybe the target  market?

Enjoy Hua Hin😎

Sorry to be negative.... but I hate Air B & B.

But, I do admit I use it for research only and initial contact with a potential landlord.

Once I make contact with the landlord I conduct business with them directly.

Otherwise f**k a bb and their fcuking rip off rules.

Thanks guys, There is no additional unit cost for electricity, I have not seen the meter and I don't think there will be an additional charge as there is no proof of how much I have used.

I don't use the Air con much, the condo has screen doors and there is a nice breeze blowing through.

One thing that did annoy me was when I arrived late Saturday the fridge did not work. I did get it working the following morning by using the TV's extension lead. I went down to the office and they sent someone up to turn on the fuse in the electrical cupboard. Apparently this was supposed to have been done prior to my arrival.

Sometimes various places can have a secondary switch for turning on a power source. Often the fcuks fail to mention it. Leaving you clueless after the cnuts already have your money.

I am extremely careful when renting anything long term until I have a good in person "going over" before committing to anything. Takes some extra effort, but well worth it. Nothing can ruin travel or a relocation like getting burned by a place you don't like or that cheats you.

When you have a good "landlord" who works with you it can make a huge world of difference. Getting suckered really puts me in a foul mood.
