Britboy Posted December 14, 2024 Posted December 14, 2024 As some of you guys on here know, my mobility was very seriously impaired about 12 months ago. While I can get about, I'm severely restricted in how far I can walk, so looking to buy an electric wheelchair. Found a couple of places that sell electric carts, but as is typical here, there is one regular plug on one of the floors of the car part and guess what, you have to go up and down some pretty awful stairs to get to and from the lift. So not practical. Being able to charge an electric wheelchair in my condo is by far the easiest solution. I've had a search around but can't find anywhere in Pattaya that sells them, so any suggestions or knowledge anyone has would be great. There's some decent looking ones on Lazada, but pretty much everything I've bought from that place doesn't come as advertised, so spending 20k feels far too risky. It'd probably come in a thousand pieces, having to build it myself. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. 2 1
fforest Posted December 14, 2024 Posted December 14, 2024 Lazada has a bunch of them https://www.lazada.co.th/tag/electric-wheelchair/ 1 1
Derek Dangleberries Posted December 14, 2024 Posted December 14, 2024 On my short visit to Pattaya in October I noticed that the old Walkabout Creek at the junction of Pattaya Tai and 3rd road was now selling electric bikes. I have no idea what is in stock now but it could be worth the cost of a phone call.. 4 1 1 1
fforest Posted December 14, 2024 Posted December 14, 2024 Maybe a good old fashion cheap frame walker would help? 1

KWA Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 Fascino on North Road have a lot of medical equipment. It wasn't open when I passed, but I could see regular wheelchairs and hospital beds as I looked in the doors, and definitely more goodies lurking further back in the showroom including some motorised stuff. Maybe worth a look? 1 2

Maybe worth a look? That is a good idea, they have a website. My wife was looking for something like this a couple of years ago and we did go to Fascino. But finally she found that facebook ads gave more choice and better prices. But not being a facebook user i have no idea about such things.

Popular Post Painter Posted December 22, 2024 Popular Post Posted December 22, 2024 @Britboy This was parked next to my smoothie stall in buckhou market. Owner was a German/Scandinavian chap with a thick accent, so I hope I've got this right... Ordered from bkk. Says he gets about 40kms on one full battery, but it took a few charges to build upto this. Has sufficient acceleration to join traffic. He added the disabled stickers and hasn't once been stopped by the bib even when clearly riding in the wrong places. 28k baht, plus 1.5k delivery. He spent another 9k on a 2nd battery for peace of mind. Each battery is detachable, charged overnight in his room. The company cut a hole in the under-seat locker to enable battery changes. I'll pm you the company's/agent's phone number 3 1 8 1
Britboy Posted December 22, 2024 Author Posted December 22, 2024 Thanks so much Painter, that's brilliant . . 👍 3

But even better was the wheeled type, with brakes i saw today (I assume the brakes are usually on and youbsqueeze to release) . It would be good to give some exercise and get the circulation going for short walks or in a supermarket while recuperating. The guy i saw had a walk around Tukom and then put it in his boot. I asume his wife was driving the car home. 3 1

Thanks again to @Painter for speaking with the guy who had that 3 wheeler and for the PM with the Agent's contact details. I have been swapping messages with him and that device looks good. I don't suppose you got the contact details of the German/Scandinavian guy who owned it by any chance? Reason I ask is it's a trust issue as the scooter is £28k and he wants 50% up front, delivery in 4 weeks. Being the sceptic and the cynic I am I'm reluctant to just bung 14k to someone I don't know and have never met, despite him being helpful and seemingly a decent on messaging. 2

Painter Posted January 7, 2025 Posted January 7, 2025 Having spent too many days cooped up in the condo, this morning I woke up feeling 85% normal, so I followed up on two leads, one from a massage girl and one from a English tourist in an electric chair I caught buzzing down soi 15. Both indicated a place on sukhumvit just south of big c. So, off I toddle. Got to big c, and headed south. 437 steps south (my phone counted them) of KFC, this appeared Next to it, but the same shop inside Conversations were via Google translate, but they offer flee delivilee. I have pm'd @Britboy other info 1 1 4 1

While needs must and ego goes out the window, I still don't think I could be seen on one of those. Can just imagine sending a pic of me on that to my ITFC supporting buddies and what their reaction would be . . 🤣 Can also imagine what my son, daughter and grandkids would say . . 🤣 4
