Went to Koh Samet NYE 2017.....you have to take a boat from the pier, 1 hour ride then they transfer you to another boat to get you to the beach..it's interesting.

Fun place as a general rule, nightlife is minimal, for sure bring a GF. Nice beach, lot's of day trips if you want to do those..

Where we stayed, they had transportation for a 20 minute ride to the nightlife area....food was good there.

If your a beach person then it's a lovely place, nightlife/girls are almost non existent, although one can normally find somewhere to obtain a beer, but most places close around 9pm.

Bear in mind that if you drive or ride to the Ban Phe, there is no RO-RO ferry, so you have to leave your mode of transport on the mainland.

Personally i have always gone the bit further from Pattaya and visited Ko Chang where you can take your ride with you and there's FAR more going on, be it beaches, restaurants, bars or whatever interests you.

For a more up to date report, you this Paddy Doyle video is good. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JlTvE9rcKAk

Give good details, and since I watched it, I have added Samet to my list of places to hit the nest time I am in Thailand.

One thing he did not advise on was getting from Pattaya to the piers for Koh Samet at Rayong.

Easy to get their by bus, or would taxi be the best option?

Anybody know how much by taxi from Pattaya to the Rayong piers?

If your using the Bolt app you can get a basic car for 655 bht, if you want a bit more comfort 8 to 900 bht.
