Yesitisdakid Posted February 8 Posted February 8 This quote is from the mayor of Pattaya. I really have a hard time getting my head around it I understand what he's saying but he's opening the door for these Indians or any race for that matter to not even have to book a hotel room. What he's trying to say or is saying is that the beach is open 24 hours if somebody's not breaking the law they can sleep there lay there no problem they're not going to get arrested unless they're breaking the law and lying on the beach isn't a violation. Seems awful strange here's the quote taken from Pattaya mail The Pattaya beach is a public space and cannot be closed. We have staff from the Pattaya Municipal Police, Tourist Police, and officers to maintain order 24 hours a day. However, if tourists are not causing a disturbance or breaking any laws, we have no authority to stop them from lying on the beach. If any fights, loud noise, or alcohol-related disturbances occur, we will take immediate legal action,” Mayor Poramet stated 4 1

I’m surprised. I also think it’s the wrong approach.
Stillearly Posted February 8 Posted February 8 Didn't Kevin from Easy17 Bar spend a few weeks sleeping on the beach when things went south for him .. ? 1 1 1
forcebwithu Posted February 8 Posted February 8 It could be that the beach area is primarily used late at night and into the wee hours of the morning by Thais having quiet parties. The Mayor is just saying they're ok unless they get out of hand. Dec 2023 at 06:00 am As for the Indians sleeping on the beach, according to the latest news report, not Indians but migrant workers. https://thepattayanews.com/2025/02/08/ugandan-woman-on-603-day-overstay-caught-after-dramatic-pattaya-beach-chase/ Previously, a viral video showing over 100 people, initially claiming, but incorrectly, to be Indian tourists, occupying Pattaya Beach with rented mats, drinking alcohol, and leaving behind piles of trash sparked public outrage. Authorities, including Pattaya police, immigration officers, and representatives from the local Indian community, conducted a late-night inspection on February 8th. They reportedly found that the individuals in question were mostly migrant workers, not Indian tourists, who regularly gathered at the beach after work to drink and socialize, sometimes staying overnight. Officials urged them to maintain cleanliness and avoid overcrowding the beachfront. During the inspection, officers spotted a 39-year-old Ugandan woman acting suspiciously. When approached for identification, she reportedly attempted to flee but collapsed into convulsions on the sand. A passport check revealed she had overstayed her visa by 603 days since 2023. She was taken into custody for further legal action and deportation proceedings. 3 2

Indians or migrant Farm Workers I don't think there's a difference I don't think it matters I just can't believe they'll allow them to do it the strip club it just doesn't seem the right way to do things it's hard to believe basically the mayor says you could stay on the beach as long as you don't break the law bring a blanket there's your new home. A matter of fact thinking about it the migrant Farm Workers it could be even worse when they realize that they'll be able to sleep on the beach and not get hassled as long as they don't cause problems that could cause a rash of people beginning to do it. At which point they'll start the monitor it more carefully or tell them to leave even though it's not illegal can't see it going on Edited February 8 by Yesitisdakid 3

Yesitisdakid Posted February 8 Author Posted February 8 It just all seems a bit crazy the mayor came out in specifically said the beach is a area that's open 24 hours provided those that are laying on the beach and others that are on the beach don't create any problems and don't break the law they cannot be arrested. Then the other news article said the police were down there cleaning up the beach whether they were making people leave or not who knows just another case of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing
fforest Posted February 8 Posted February 8 (edited) This is a strange story because Pattaya officials have been running cheesy sleazy photo ops of them busting up some homeless encampments that were out of the way and not bothering anyone for a number of months now.... Also a few cheesy photo ops of beach undesirables being moved... And now its open season on beach camping or what? Helping people in need is good as long the help is real and not for photo ops... Phantom51red Posted February 9 Posted February 9 I think this mayor may have a share or even own a straw factory.

Glasseye Posted March 9 Posted March 9 They ship people in to exploit them, then the least they can do is treat them as well as they can. Those folks are up against a world of hurt. They should be properly accomodated and treated with complete respect unless acting up. Not doing such is unacceptable, immoral and could result in serious push back and negative consequesnces.
