Be good to see if anybody has any recommendations I was up there year and a half ago and it was pretty blah. Not much going on at all in the way of nightlife. Hope it's changed I'd like to make a trip back there as well

We had dinner a the coffee house, a Thai style Pub with live music, food, Hoegaarden, and so on. Nothing what one could not find in any larger town in Thailand. Otherwise search in google maps, the choice is very limited.

Not a place I remember much for its bars as I was with family. I will say though, the terrace restaurant at the Krungsiri Hotel on the river is a great place to eat. It is also a great place to have beer towers and enjoy some light music.

In fact, on the opposite bank there is a restaurant (believe it is called the 'Venice'), which also does great Thai food, again with a lovely view of the river.

There is a good American friend who is a member (but hasn't posted for a long time), who has roots in Ayutthaya and would have a great knowledge of the bars available. If he was reading this thread his info would be invaluable.

I have just returned from said city.

Overall I found it a fairly boring place. Saw a few ruins and temples but enough was enough after 2 days.

Nightlife was non existent.
3 bars are mentioned on a net search.
Dark Ale bar. Permently closed.
Mango bar. Permently closed.
Khaosan Bar opens at 17.00 and is a fairly small bar centred on a pool table in the outside area. No totty.
Other "bars" appeared in the search but they were mainly restaurants serving booze.

Plenty of restaurants of all types and most sold alchohol.

I didn't see one good looking woman in the 4 nights I stayed.

I am glad that I experienced the city but I wouldn't go back.

I enjoyed my couple of days there,  Nareasuan Road has lots of bars and restaurants ..  no girlies bars though

They don't really open until about 18:00 and most don't get busy until after 20:00
