Changes in which Thai Banks Wise allows you to send payments to

Here’s an updated list of the banks you can send Thai baht to. From 06 May 2025, you’ll only be able to send THB to recipient accounts in the following banks in Thailand: • Bangkok Bank Public Company • Kasikorn Bank • Krung Thai Bank • Siam Commercial Bank • CIMB Thai Bank • Bank Of Ayudhya (Krungsri bank) • Kiatnakin Phatra Bank For now, you won’t be able to send transfers to recipient accounts in banks that aren't listed above, even if you’ve sent money to them before. See which recipient banks you can no longer send THB to. This change is due to a system upgrade across banks in Thailand to enhance their security. As more banks complete their system upgrades, more banks will be able to receive money from Wise. We’re sorry for any inconvenience this may cause — we’ll keep you updated on any future changes.

Most of those are international Banks and probably only have branches in Bangkok

I tried to send £500 to my TTB account today and it wouldn't do it I wondered what was going on .

Using Wise's own list of top 10 banks

They've taken GSB, UOB and TMB off the board for payments. All of those would have a branch in Hua Hin, personally know a couple of ex pats who were directed to opening an account with GSB with the "agent" they were using.

I do though take your point in most instances but this will impact some, as we can see above.

But as Wise says in the note more banks should come back onto the allowed list when they upgrade their systems

Just curious - did you ask for the money to be sent in GBP or THB, i.e. which bank did you ask to do the conversion?

I was sending it GBP to convert to Baht from Lloyds Bank UK

Actually I got all that wrong 🤣🙈

I sent money from my Lloyds Bank through Wise to my Thai Bank , but Wise do the conversion (well give you the baht rate of the day)

Thanks. So you sent GBP to Wise, which converted it to THB, and you transferred the THB to your Thai bank account. 

If that is the case, I am very pleased to know that that still works.

I confess I'm a bit lost by this. 

Can Wise no longer transfer to ALL Thai bank accounts, or just some? 

If so, which ones can it transfer to and which ones not? 

Or is the problem that Wise cannot convert GBP to THB?

Yes it is only these banks listed below that Wise can transfer money to. I did a transfer from Wise to my Kasikorn account and it worked.
