I was getting a new phone about every 2 years or so. I took a look at when i bought my last phone and could not believe it had been 5 years next week Xiaomi Note 9 pro. This phone has had zero issues and i am still getting a full day of use on a charge of 80%. It charges from 20% to 80% in about 35 Mins as well. I was looking at the new Xiaomi's but this phone is working as good as when it was new. till it gives me reason will hold off on getting another. Paid 6999 Baht new and the Mi store in Central threw in a 128Gb Memory card a bluetooth head set A blue tooth desk top speaker a case as well as a screen protector. How offen do you find your self getting a new phone.

I suppose if I used my phone for taking pics, I might be tempted to upgrade to the latest and greatest after a couple of years of use. But since I don't I only replace a phone when it stops working.

I replaced a seven year old Galaxy s9+ with a Galaxy s25+ about two months ago. One of the side buttons had fallen off and the battery wasn't too good anylonger. The cost of getting it fixed was about half of a new s25+, so I decided it was time to get it changed. With seven years, the s9+ actually lasted two years longer than the Nokia 3310 i had some 20 years ago.

I used to do mine every two years , but didn't bother last year .. when I do upgrade, my old phone becomes my travel phone and the newer one my normal phone ...

I'm about to.replace mine. Had it 4 years, a   Samsung Galaxy still working but the the battery doesn't last as long as it used to and they ate a sealed unit.

Will  probably just buy a Samsung Galaxy A16. They are quite cheap at the moment. Amazon have  some cheap deals.

I don't need a flashy expensive phone nor one with an advanced camera or 16 gig of RAM.

3 or 4 years is about right for an upgrade, I would say.

@Yesitisdakid Interesting you should post this.

In the past I would change to the latest Samsung every couple of years when my contract ran out. The improvement in photo and video quality each time made it worth while.

My old phone was then used for my Thai sim.

My current phone contract has just finished on my S23 ultra. This is a large heavy bit of kit and it doesn't carry too well in flimsy shorts that I wear in Asia. It does 8k video and the pictures and zoom are amazing.

The old phone is a light weight S20, which also takes good pictures and video, but is easy to carry in shorts.

My contract has recently run out, so have been contemplating changing to the new S25 Ultra, but can't see the point.

In the past I have traded in my oldest phone to get a discount, that would mean having to carry a big Ultra around in Asia which I don't want to do. I do far too many miles walking to have a heavy phone in shorts.

So, I have given myself until the weekend to decide one way or another. A big consideration is whether a sim only deal can give me European roaming as part of the package. I spend around 2 months each year in Europe fishing.

Work in progress!

Changed 20 months ago to a Realme C55, probably best phone I have had.

Then again, I probably am a light user.

I once bought a Samsung S4 for about 22000 baht and probably only used about 5% of the available functions.

Since then I have had better phones for a quarter of the price. Think my S4 had 32GB of storage, my C55 has 128GB.

When I bought the C55 in Banana IT, Hua Hin, the guy loaded it all up for me by cloning my old phone and gave me a load of goodies, including a horizontal blue tooth speaker and stand up speaker among other goodies. Think it cost 5499 baht.

Phone fine presently, only used up a third of the storage, but could export most of that to external storage.

O2 are the only network provider to still have free roaming, or some of the MVNO companies.

I'm going into Central tomorrow for some insurance business. I think when I am there I am going to pick up a new phone and will switch sims (dump True and go with AIS).

Going to be a pain in the ass but been putting it off for too long. I'm just going to go with another basic Sammie. I think though that I will get a dual sim phone even though I will only have one sim in it (sort of as a backup, fcuk I don't know...). I will also get the registration update taken care of.

I am going to stick with the same size. I have learned how to manage it. I'm getting pretty good at pocket pool. Helps so have a small cue.

Yes it seems so, restricted to 25G of data whilst roaming.

My provider EE give me it also under my current deal and it looks like I can stay with them on a sim only deal with unlimited data for slightly cheaper than what I am paying now.

Will call them and see what wiggle room there is on it also, threatening to change provider etc.

I don't want to change number or provider really as the coverage I get whilst fishing some remote places suits my needs.

I am with Talk mobile, the online only service brother of Vodafone.

I get free roaming within my bundle parameters. Have used it in Greece and lastly in Czechia in February.

Not sure what the rules are over there. But in LOS and I believe the States you can keep the same number even when switching providers (but not 100% sure).

If you live in London it’s when it’s stolen.😂

I bought an iPhone 11 used about two and a half years ago. Mint condition, like new. 100% battery health.

Battery now 78% but that’s all I will replace when it gets under 70%.

Does everything I need, don’t need these fancy features they add to justify releasing a new model every 18 months at extortionate prices.

You probably can here too, but it looks like my best option is with my current provider.

The improvements over the years with camera and video quality made changing well worth while.

Now there aren't really any significant improvements at the top end market.

Also you could get a better phone on contract, cheaper than buying one separately and getting a sim only deal.

That's not the case so much now!

I take very few pictures and almost no videos, so I really don’t need anything fancy, like an iPhone Pro for example.

Unlike most of you, I am an Apple guy.

Now that I am retired I am a super light user. When I was a traveling worker I would upgrade about every 2 years. One exception was my iPhone 8. That thing was so dependable I almost cried when I traded it in.

I currently have an iPhone 14. It works better than well enough. Most of my phone calls are on Line over WiFi. Gets the job done here in Thailand. I doubt I will upgrade again until the 14 goes out of support.

I use AIS as a carrier and they are dependable, other that I wish they would stop sending me so many advertisements.

Logically, my next phone will be a S35 (if I live that long).

I won’t ever touch a Samsung product ever since the day they started sponsoring Chelsea.
