For those of you that use booking.com take note

I was looking for a place in Bangkok for 3 Days beginning next Friday. I was on my tablet checking prices saw what I was interested in. I got up to go to my desktop I logged into my booking account there and the difference in price was 500 baht. I double checked the dates on the tablet and on the desktop I had everything correct but the tablet showed it 500 baht cheaper than the desktop. I was also signed into my booking account on both devices have no idea how that happened or if it's a regular occurrence.

Could be different browsers. Or, different devices that were channelled through different servers.

 

I sometimes forget but when doing any booking searches with any airline or service I try to remember to occassionally clear my cache as I do so.

Lazada and shopee give rewards and discounts out the wazoo for ordering on a smart phone...And the same orders on a desktop gives you almost no discounts...

Its a push to get people to ditch the desk top for a smart phone.

Several companies give extra discount if you are using the app on a mobile device. 

Don't know about Booking because I am almost always using my phone to book.

Different devices will have different data in the cookies that track your searches. The data in the cookies is used to provide what they call personalized pricing.

This..Often it’s not just laptop versus mobile device , but extra deals are “unlocked on the APP” 

I had the same in 2020-21 surprisingly with Aeroplan. Was flying back & forth with Dad’s cancer, and would book each way last minute with points . Then one time I download the APP, and suddenly more flights are available , and also for minimum quoted points, no upcharges….I was pissed off, an APP doesn’t magically put more Air Canada planes in the sky

Anyway, hurts to think about, goddamn pandemic. Only reason I had those miles , I was refunded one way in Business with Turkish to BKK stopping in Istanbul.Would have been a great way to start a vacation

Even get different prices for the same place, same site (Agoda) and on the same device if you access directly, via Google search or via Trivago.
