The crew of a Blue Islands flight have been praised for their “exceptional airmanship” after safely landing a plane in 30mph crosswinds when one of its engines failed.

The ATR 72 aircraft (registration G-ISLO) was forced to return to Birmingham Airport shortly after take-off following an engine failure.

Emergency services met the plane on arrival, escorting it safely from the runway.

Absolutely but surprised there were no emergency vehicles following them down the runway.

I couldn't understand the first couple of vehicles going the wrong way down the runway too, unless they were checking that nothing had fallen off on the landing.

Right at the very end of the video, it appeared some emergency vehicles were entering the runway to follow the landing plane. Admittedly, they appeared to arrive later than expected.

Article stated the problem arose shortly after take off. In an emergency the pilot will "Aviate, Navigate, Communicate" in that order. So it's possible the the emergency vehicles didn't get the word until late in their abbreviated flight.

Based on your experience with airplanes and airports, what's the minimum expected response time from the emergency call to roll out?

ASAP is all I can think of & judging by the video they had plenty of time for a mayday call.
