We’ve booked 9 nights here at the beginning of August and I’m looking online for things to do and there are loads of activities/ things which is great. It’s our first time in Samui.

would just like some recent visitors ideas of what would be good to take a look at whilst there. We are keen to look at anything and aware when we land there there will be plenty of tourist offerings so just thought I’d ask here to see if there are any suggestions.

Thank you - I’d read about Bamboo just recently

I’d highly recommend a visit to Samui Elephant Jungle Sanctuary.

I went on a morning tour walking around with the elephants after feeding them and giving them a scrub in their water pit.

The guide was very knowledgeable and spoke fluent English.

A lot of good info above.

I stayed in the Hive and got a buffet breakfast most days but there was a great little place on the main road that passes Lamai called Boulangerie Patisserie De Samui. I did have English breakfast there once, but they also do great baguettes and cakes as well. The link is mainly in French but the directions are there. Great sitting outside in the early morning.

In the evenings we spent quite a few nights listening to the band at Speed Lounge and bar. Great service from lovely waitresses, nice place for a casual evening as it isn't a girly bar. Right in the centre of Lamai.

Just around the corner opposite 7/11 is the Shamrock Pub, another great place to get food and watch live bands.

If you have transport get up to the Fisherman's Village. Again some great little restaurants and bars overlooking the sea. There is an Irish bar with amazing views over the islands looking north.

Also you have Big Buddha Temple, again great views from some of the little restaurants near the steps to the Buddha. Spend a short while there and you will get a great view of the planes landing at the airport.

If in Chaweng, a meal at Tropical Murphy's Irish Pub is well worth a visit, I had the best Steak and Kidney pie ever there.

I love Samui and especially Lamai.

I'm glad you mentioned there as I'd forgotten about it.  They do takeaway too and I used to get  some lovely stuff there on my morning walk.  Just round the corner on Had Lamai Road there's another French bakery which Google tells me is called Papé or Golden Bread (may have changed names at some point) but your one had much more choice when I was last there.

ETA.  The second one has more recent reviews under the Papé name so may have improved its choice.

I saw that other 'Pape' place, seemed to be quite busy inside and the location, being close to a junction, put us off parking.

An Israeli friend took us to the place heading out of Lamai, it was easier parking for our bikes and we liked that it had lovely outside tables. I did take a few baguettes from there when we were heading for an island drive.

Cannot reccommend this Thai eatery enough, near to the beginning of the main drag, close to Samui Pyramid Resort were we were staying, Eating Time.Spotlessly clean and very friendly staff.

Great English brekkie and Thai food at Cafe Kob opposite  Pyramid resort. cannot find a link for the Lamai branch but the link is for another branch, they all serve the same menu Cafe Kob.

Amazing value at COCKTAILS by PIK. Best cocktails in Lamai, 95bht and they don`t skimp on the the alcohol content, comforable seating and attentive staff.
