I flew once with BA to Bangkok , the flight was pretty quiet and I got a great price

Did it with Thai a few years ago, found it cheaper that the flights on the days before and after.

Quiet enough, certainly not packed.

Ditto, except I flew with EVA (31 Dec. '22).

You can occupy your mind by trying to work out at exactly what point in the flight you transition from the old year to the new year! 🙂

I'm booked with Qatar 31st Dec business class it was a good bit cheaper than the 29th which was when I wanted to fly.

But then I thought that I've never seen NY in whilst airborne....

Flew out NYE in 2010 on Eva.

Price was considerably cheaper than a week before or after.

I asked the cabin crew and they checked with the pilot 555

then bought me Champagne 🥂
