john1000 Posted June 21, 2025 Posted June 21, 2025 I have a VW Passat, which I bought at one years old, owned for 18 years now. 1.9TDI. No issues, but starting to look like a dustbin, and prohibited from entering ULEZ areas. 2
coxyhog Posted June 21, 2025 Posted June 21, 2025 I bought my 2010 MB E500 Sport Coupe in 2011 & sold it a couple of years ago.I miss the V8 roar but my Audi SQ5 SUV is much better given the state of the UK roads. My Harley I owned for 18 years but I don't regret selling it for the reason given above. Not sure for how long we've had our Isuzu pickup in Thailand but it must be around 15 years. 2 1
Popular Post maipenrai Posted June 21, 2025 Popular Post Posted June 21, 2025 That would be these two related vehicles - I bought this 1975 Ford F250 4x4 in 1987: A couple of years later I upgraded it with a dual-wheel posi rear axle and a custom-made flat deck: By 2005 it was getting a little tired and rusty so I replaced it with a '97 Ford F350 2WD cab and chassis and moved the deck over, and I have had it ever since: The original F250 was driven lots on and off for the first year or two but became a work truck afterwards, and the newer one with its 7.5l motor only gets used when it is needed, you can almost see the fuel gauge moving as you are driving it, lol... 7 1

Had this 1978 320i that I bought new for a whopping $9,999. Drove the crap out of it for 10 years and got something like $2500 for it in 1988 with 150k miles on it. I'd pay $10k for it today if i could find it. 4
Popular Post Pumpuynarak Posted June 22, 2025 Popular Post Posted June 22, 2025 I've had my Toyota Fortuner for 18 years, bought new in 2007 and i'm delighted with it, minimal repairs, inexpensive maintenance costs and it still looks good as all my friends tell me. Bit like wifey as i've had her for the same 18 years lol 4 6

Krapow Posted June 22, 2025 Posted June 22, 2025 Haven't had a car since living in London. They make it so hard for you, what with parking, ULEZ, LTN areas. They don't want you driving. Though to be fair, I have no need, I can and do walk to work, and public transport is good, if expensive in London. 1 1 1
Mr. Smooth Posted June 22, 2025 Posted June 22, 2025 Had a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500, standard cab w/8'bed, drove that 14 years and nearly 160,000 miles before upgrading to my present 2021 Dodge Ram 1500 with "slightly" more bells and whistles and much better gas mileage! 1 1

Glasseye Posted June 23, 2025 Posted June 23, 2025 I haven't driven a car for a think at least 2.5 years now. I believe the longest I've owned a car (truck) was 16 years - a 1994 Ford Ranger.... Like this one Frame joints rusted through to the bone..... 2

john1000 Posted June 23, 2025 Author Posted June 23, 2025 Back in the seventies, rust was always a problem for many cars. Two mini Coopers, although fun to drive, both sub frames rotted. Always wanted a MGB roadster but never got round to it.
coxyhog Posted June 23, 2025 Posted June 23, 2025 Slightly off topic, the shortest time I owned a car was in 1997 when we moved to the Isle of Man. Bought a Mazda MX-5 on a whim a couple of days before leaving thinking it'll be great to drive round the island. Sold very soon afterwards after I discovered how much it rains there.🙄 4
Yessongs Posted June 24, 2025 Posted June 24, 2025 Bought my Infiniti G35 brand new in July 2003...sold it in 2016 when I moved here and got married. Had it the longest at 13 years of any car I had. I loved this Japanese Rice Rocket....280 HP, it was quick and fun to drive. Never had a problem with it...did the regular maintenance on it, kept it in pristine condition. The Bose Sound system it had was off the hook good... I even let wifey drive it.......................once LOL! When I had to move back in 2019 to help my parents, I bought a used Lexus SUV...which it still there. It's just not a G35 you know, but still a very nice ride overall. 4 2
