It seems some of the older posts wrt this subject have been locked .Any up to date suggestions now I can let rip without a  wailing western food  companion

When you say street food, do you mean good cheap places to eat Thai food, or Thai food obtained from street carts?

Not sure if they still there but they were a month or so ago probably 40 or 50 different food vendors under the overpass at Sukhumvit Soi 1 where Buckskin Joe's bars used to be back in the day

street carts

There are several dotted around soi 4 and soi 8 especially in the evenings if you are in lower Suk.

Larry's suggestion sounds like street food heaven.

There are a lot of vendors up there at night I would say it's worth having a look

1) Ari- get heading north on the BTS get off at exit 3 and head to the Piwayan Tower(it's a condo)

There's a rectangle bounded by the alley that the Piwayan Tower is on(yards from the BTS exit), Soi Ari 1, Phahonyothin 7, and the main Phahonyothin Road

Walking around this block you are talking 10 minutes, lots of street food options, hole in the wall joints, pop ups and other small restaurants down side streets.

Walk around slowly and duck up side alleys and you will find more places.

There will be some places selling beers but no so many, it's not a major tourist spot more for Thais It may or may not be for you. Avoid on Sunday and Mondays, some take Sunday as a day off, the police force a shut down some Monday day times, and make the vendors/local shop keepers clean the street

2. Chinatown, very had to avoid street food here at night, close to impossible. You'll have more booze options here as it's so touristy. But not so touristy that isn't still fun.

3. Larry's recommendation under the flyover in lower Suk/Ploenchit it's called Mie Sen

The problem you face looking for streetfood is the authorities have a nasty habit of wanting to remove vendors. In the past year for example all the food vendors on Suk Soi 33 have been swept away.

KSR I haven't been in years, never liked the place when I did go.

I'll add in if you are exploring Soi Convent (which is worthwhile for food), easy to combine with Patpong I.

There's food stalls at the Silom Road end of Patpong I, the prices will be a little higher but no rip off. You can sit outside the Kings Castle gogo and have a reasonably price beer.  Several other drinking options aound there but you do need to be more careful to check on how much you are paying

Soi Convent,.right hand side coming off Silom Road- not on Google maps. Chinese joint with red lanterns outside.

Roast pork, rice, egg and water. Free onion soup, 70 baht and superb.

Loads of street food options lunch time at the top of the Soi. Will explore more here. Would be a good spot to stay a few nights.
