fforest Posted July 9 Posted July 9 (edited) I know there is already a section on this forum for news except not many people post there... I have been thinking for a while it would be good to have a thread here for news and current events in one place... That will mostly be about Thailand...But hey a really good world news story could also go here.. Just mostly news stories with out any stupid political debates.... If for some reason everyone thinks this is a bad idea, then just delete this whole thread... Edited July 9 by fforest 1

fforest Posted July 9 Author Posted July 9 https://fherehab.com/news/portugal-lowest-drug-rate Several decades ago, Portugal was struggling with an opioid epidemic that was remarkably similar to the one the U.S. faces today. The problem was so immense that Lisbon became known as the “heroin capital” of Europe. Since the turn of the century, though, addiction and overdose rates have dramatically fallen. The question is why? 1 1
Krapow Posted July 9 Posted July 9 (edited) I used to try 'current affairs' stories, but i gave up as they always ended up getting moved to the Politics section. Some clearly did the way 'they developed', but some didn't IMO. But being a Mod is a thankless task, you'll always get some moany kunt like me shouting Edited July 9 by Krapow 1 1

Krapow Posted July 11 Posted July 11 Even less Chinese now coming for me to fight with at the breakfast buffets ... PATTAYA - A Chinese tourist was abducted, robbed and forced to give up more than 230,000 baht by men posing as police officers in Pattaya. The incident occurred on Thursday at 5.30am, according to Pattaya City Police. Security video captured the moment two men in dark clothing forced the victim into a vehicle in front of a food stall on North Pattaya Road near Pattaya Sai 3 in tambon Na Kluea. A witness, who requested anonymity, said three Chinese men, including the victim, later identified as Lin Yifan, 52, were eating noodles together, and after finishing their meals, they split up, with Mr Lin using an app to call for a ride. While waiting for his ride, a white SUV pulled up, and men in black hoodies got out of the car and pushed Mr Lin into the vehicle. He struggled and tried to escape, but was ultimately dragged into the car, which sped away. The witness did not intervene, believing it was a police arrest. Mr Lin later reported the crime to Pattaya City Police. He said that after he was forced into the car, his hands were tied behind his back and he was threatened with a weapon, though he was unsure if it was a gun. The suspects, who spoke a mix of Thai and English, searched him and stole two iPhones, 15,000 baht in cash and a pair of eyeglasses. He was then released at a shooting range approximately 9km away from the location where he was abducted. He promptly sought help. Investigations revealed that the suspects also transferred 150,000 baht from Mr Lin’s Chinese banking application. In total, he lost over 230,000 baht. Police are still looking for the suspects. 2 1

Yeah, apparently going on for a long time - I chuckle to think that we men who travel to Thailand, etc. for fun are referred to as "sex tourists", yet the women style themselves as "romantic travellers", 555... 3 3

The 'Shirley Valentines' have been traveling for many years to the Mediterranean islands as well as to other continents, such as Africa and Asia. Good luck to them, they are just trying to have the same fun as every single guy who arrives in Pattaya. 4

No way in hell is a smoker going to quit on the spot... If a smoker cant smoke on the beach thats one thing....But the walkway too......No F...ing way.... This will be 100% ignored by all smokers... Edited July 14 by fforest 1 2
fforest Posted July 14 Author Posted July 14 (edited) I enlarged the no smoking sign..... The sign is only in Thai and English.....And the sign says the fine is 1,000 baht on the sign....The rest of the sign the words are too small to read..... I guess cig butts will now cover the beach walkway because there will be no place to depose them.. Edited July 14 by fforest

There has been a sign just before entering hua hin beach by the hilton for many years, except its a 10,000 bht fine, specifically the beach tho,and tbh i can't remember ever seeing anyone smoke, but don't think it'll work in pattaya especially the walkway ott.
